[Discussion] SteamOS 3.6 is nearly here, with Valve focusing on bug fixes before release. What are some bugs you've encountered (on either Stable or Beta) that you're hoping to see fixed?
  • Ah ok so from what im hearing, because the kernal on the deck hasn't been updated with a codec that you prefer for these headphones, they sound worse. That sucks man. I would hope it wouldn't be the same case for other distros but if your headphones are newer that can make it more difficult to have compatibility. Takes a while for Linux to catch up on most stable distributions is my understanding.

And I use Reaper! Love Reaper a ton, clean and easy to use daw for $60 bucks (small business/personal use) I'm currently on Fedora 40.

  • I'm a musician who is just getting started producing on Linux. I haven't had issues with audio aside from my audio interface not being compatible due to have software control for hardware which i hated anyways. Using a focuarite interface now and its been good. Pulseaudio has been pretty solid for a while now which is what the steamdeck uses from what i can see online.

Both my mic and headphones have worked great with all distros I've tried. That said, sometimes stuff just doesn't wanna play well with Linux, even if it seems like it should and im typically not using bluetooth devices on Linux for audio so im not as familiar with issues they may have.

You might try another set of headphones to see if its an issue with the headohones themselves. And or, try them with a different distro/pc because it may be a issue with the deck itself.

  • Has anyone used UmbrelOS or CasaOS?
  • I tried umbrel and wasnt super impressed. It seemed like it would function alright for the small amount of things i was trying to do but broke shortly after installing. I set up pihole and i think jellyfin since i was just testing it out on an older laptop.

I've heard decent things about CasaOS but have not used it myself.

  • How do y'all cope without meds?
  • Before i even knew i had it, caffeine. One cup of coffee and maybe a soda per day. No more or otherwise it'd make me tired. Its no replacement for meds but other things helped too like keeping notes, getting enough sleep, excerising, and one of the things i still do today, taking the frustration out of daily tasks.

If something bugs you a lot or stops you from being productive, find a way to make it easier or at least less annoying. Problem solve. Its one of my biggest drivers for dopamine hits and making your life easier by just getting rid of little annoyances makes it easier to function overall.

All that said, like others mentioned, I didn't function well before meds. Honestly i feel like i got off easy but its not really helpful to compare your situation to others.

I hope anything from this post helps you out man.

  • It's time for change, it's time for Linux. | DankPods
  • I have used discover and other similar apps like the Pop shop but man are they just not quite there yet imo.

I installed Pop!OS on my media pc recently and that gave me more problems than discover on my main pc running Fedora.

Both were good for finding apps but installing was kind of a pain. Usually it would crash, or not install at all, sometimes canceling would hang forever, etc.

Though this could be due to my internet being shit where i live atm so ymmv.

  • It has gotten easier the more I've used it amd I'm very stubborn so I'll be here a while lol.

Unfortunately the only person i know that also uses Linux uses Gentoo so he'll have to compile my question for a few days before he can answer it.

  • Twitch is upping subscription prices on mobile
  • Twitch announced on Wednesday that Tier 1 and gift subscriptions in more than 40 countries will have a higher price on the iOS and Android apps starting on October 1st. According to emails from Twitch shared by Dexerto and on Reddit, Tier 1 subscriptions will cost $7.99 per month, an increase from the current Tier 1 price on the app of $5.99 per month. The cost of Tier 2 and Tier 3 subscriptions will remain the same.

The July price hike, which affected subscriptions on the web, upped a Tier 1 subscription to $5.99 per month in the US, an increase of $1. (Once the new mobile price increase takes effect, subscribing via the app will once again be more expensive than on the web; like other companies, Twitch charges higher prices for subscriptions on mobile apps as a way to offset Apple’s and Google’s app store fees.)

Last year, in the US, Twitch increased the price of Twitch Turbo, its monthly subscription that removes ads, from $8.99 per month to $11.99 per month.

  • I found out why I wasn't interested in romance... Turns out, I want the traditional gender roles to be flipped.
  • Preach my brother.

I'm almost 30 and i 100% agree. Friends and family thought i was gay because i guess dont fit the normal "male" shit that everyone seems to assume you need to be male.

I like art and music amd cute things like cat bowls with cat ears.

But i also like to build things like my desk and work outside with my hands and fix things like when my girlfriends parents had thier washing machine break. Loved fixing that.

Early on into our relationship, my girlfriend saw me cry and didn't say shit about me not being a man or being weak or whatever garbage people code to "men". She was just there for me. Sat and listened.

So to answer OP, i agree with Scrubbles, find someone you wanna spend time with. The woman you describe absolutely exists but theres also a chance that you find someone completely different and that's ok.

  • Do you value high fidelity (audio, visual, or other)? Do you notice a difference?
  • I like a certain level of quality when it comes to audio.

When I'm making music, I use in ear monitors from shure with a flat response because it would throw off my mixes otherwise. Same with my presonus speakers. Flat response.

But for causally watching content, its fine for me to use some bookshelf speakers or even a bluetooth speaker. Its not super important for watching content for me as long as its not total trash.

  • I have a really, really, REALLY important job to do
  • Meds do help in my case. My issues was not procrastination so much as id procrastinate and then forget about it.

Meds help me remember to do things and stay more organized but they don't make it super easy, just easier. I think the biggest thing is they make me feel awake. Before meds, i always felt like i was tired. Probably because my brain was always in overdrive.

Feeling awake helps motivate me to get stuff done.

I'm using amphetamine salts or generic adderall

  • My boi Sydney.

I dont buy purebreds but him and his brother were given to my family and I took Sydney with me after i was moves out for a few years. Hes the best little idiot. He is a British gray shorthair. Very affectionate.
