Im convinced these are the same people that buy pre release games or early access without actually reading up at all and then get mad after. Like dude, its tesla, everyone knows they make low quality junk.
I'm no Tesla fan, but your comment could be true of anything new.
The original iPhone, air conditioning, refrigeration, electricity, you could go on forever.
Some people will always be early adopters. The bleeding edge will always have takers willing to buy a ticket.
This truck was the first in a number of categories. One of them being a new form factor. In theory, the idea of a Delorean truck is great. Tesla's execution on the other hand - not so much.
It's still a surprise that people held on to a reservation for long after all that's gone on. That's worth critiquing. Wanting the cool new thing isn't.
I've spoken about the design of the Cybertruck here before. I personally love it. I think the engineers deserve massive praise for getting something on the streets that looks so close to the concept.
It's a shame that Tesla made it. My comment was more to do with the fact that Tesla's history of new model launches is well-known and very poor. If any other company made the CT I'd be trying everything I could to get my hands on one, but because it's a Tesla, I wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole. I have a hard time sympathizing with anyone who can look past Tesla's history and still buy one of their cars just because it's the New Thing.
I'm interested that you named one, which was *shape, not form factor. That's marketing bullshit. Nothing new there, cars have changed shape every year for the last hundred years
(Update* Tesla went above and beyond to fix my truck today and get it back to me this afternoon. Very happy. The Tesla Pensacola service center stepped up and did an awesome job. They even detailed the truck before I picked it up. It was all covered by warranty. I’m very pleased.)
Hahah that's not above and beyond. That's just doing the bare minimum of what is legally required. I wonder when these people will actually spit elons dick out of their mouths.
Lemon laws protect from defects, and require a manufacturer who can’t repair the defect to take back the car for a refund.
This type of behavior is usually an attempt to claim those don’t apply because it’s user error or damage while operating, rather than a defect. It’s complete BS to make that claim, but I guess if it means some people won’t stand up for their rights, the manufacturer is up the cost
They also adore all of the looks they get in their lemon. So even though these trucks are shit automobiles, they delivered on the reason every single one of these buyers' top priority. They are the center of attention wherever they go.
Yes we do have laws, and probably would have ended up in a lawsuit, however, reading the article sounds like this is (so far) one case and though the service center tried to get out of it originally did end up taking care of the issue. Still super shitty that they denied it at first
It should have had a bumper to bumper warranty. Just because Tesla does stupid shit like this and it becomes a news article, doesn’t mean all the cars in the US are like this.
Laws don't protect us. They bind us. Laws protect Tesla because money gives you all the advantages in the US legal system. Magnuson-Moss will almost surely cover this but again every single individual will have to fight to get it covered.
Yeah, they look terrible standing there alone in promotional photographs, but when you see them in traffic surrounded by normal cars it's astonishing how much stupider they look. However, I'm a school bus driver and it's depressing how insanely excited the kids get when they see one.
in defense of actual reality: kids can be pretty fucking stupid sometimes. but they have lots of potential. Don't be too disappointed when they say dumb shit.
Genuinely amazing how the guy who greenlit the Tesla Roadster because it reminded him of his wrecked McLauren looked at this ugly metal brick and thought "This is going to revolutionize the industry".
I actually live about 5 miles from that Tesla service center. There is a shit-load of Teslas parked around that place. Last time I drove by it looked like they were running out of room...
Oh, I get it now. Bad taste was the whole point. Anyone who buys one of these is clearly an idiot and more likely to accept stupid shit like this, so they try shit like this first and then resolve the cases that make the news and get paid by the ones who just accept it.
