Yeah tbh I find we are way slower to rock the boat than we should be given the advantages of being a small nation. We've a lot to learn from the Baltics in that regard.
We should have expelled the Russian ambassador and the public would have roundly supported it. If they reciprocated it's not that much of an issue for Irish in Russia because they can use any EU consulate.

Declaring recognition of statehood has all sorts of legal implications, it may take a bit to finish settling those now that they've actually decided to do it, and then most likely the decision will be formal/final in July.
