Can't wait for them to explain how states don't have rights.
Shamelessness is the conservatives' superpower
They don't owe Trump anything at this point. They have their lifetime appointments.
Clarence Thomas is a good example of how effective bribes can still be.
They still have a lifetime of vacations and other perks to work for.
I honestly think they have skeletons and those "sins" would be leaked by Russia if they don't rule as they are told
unless trump gets in again as im sure he wants to be able to pull them out as he feels like it.
presidential election doesnt just affect their state.
They need to issue a ruling especially since Illinois just removed him as well.
Let's hope they are smart enough not to test the resolve of a real democracy.
The USA isn't a real democracy.
I said on mastodon that the correct decisions is who the states put on the ballot is up to them. However states do not elective a president, they send electors. The electors will not be allowed to choose Trump when they meet. Ideally this comes with a reminder that no law or contract may bind who an elector votes for when they meet. This would give the electors a lot more power which I think is a good thing (and also the whole point of them in the first place).
The election might go to the house of representatives of course.
The SCotUS is now invalid & all future rulings by them should be ignored until they are cleaned out & replaced.
If the states ignored this ruling, SCotUS can't do a damn thing about it. We don't re-run elections.
