Israeli foreign minister says he will summon Brazil’s ambassador for a reprimand over Lula’s remarks.
What Hamas did is a crime, no question. But, if what Israel is doing is not a “Holocaust”, I don’t know what is.

Name itself is coming from legendary figure of Ashkenaz, grandson of Japhet who as the direct descendant of Noah symbolise Germany. Germany was called Eretz Ashkenaz in Yiddish since medieval, and so Ashkenazi Jews = Jews in Germany, from where they spread to nearly entire west, north and east Europe when they were running away from pogroms.
Israel is definitely committing acts of genocide, but holocaust comparisons are hyperbole; they haven't been rounding up Palestinians by the thousands and putting them in gas chambers. Even the most evil acts imaginable still fall on a spectrum.
Ok, true, no gas chambers... But rounding up Palestinians and lobbing in bombs... That's what's happening in rafah right now... Except it's not thousands... It's more.
Even Palestinian estimates put the civilian casualties in the low tens of thousands, I'd say that counts as "thousands"
If they're definitely committing genocide, why didn't the ICJ order them to stop? They ordered Russia too, they've got the ability. They declined to do it again the other day for Rafah again.
I don't think there was billions of dollars going into aushwitz or the other camps, and Israel doesn't seem to be trucking in Palestinians from neighboring countries.... and killing them en masse. Seems like the comparisons aren't equivalent.
The ICJ did order them to stop, the West just ignored it.
@S_204 there's two issues here.
Auschwitz and the Shoah was not the only genocide, you don't even need camps to carry out a genocide.
What Israel is doing is definitely a genocide but whether or not other genocides should be compared to the Holocaust is a separate issue.
