Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley on Saturday questioned Donald Trump’s mental fitness after he appeared to confuse her with former House speaker Nancy Pelosi when talking about the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.
“Last night, Trump is at a rally and he’s going on and on mentioning me several times as to why I didn’t take security during the Capitol riots. Why I didn’t handle January 6 better. I wasn’t even in DC on January 6. I wasn’t in office then,” Haley said.
“They’re saying he got confused. That he was talking about something else. That he was talking about Nancy Pelosi. He mentioned me multiples times in that scenario,” the former South Carolina governor added.
The closer we get to the election the more apparent it is that the stress of his mounting legal troubles has taken a considerable toll on him. He was mentally unfit for office in 2016 and 2020 too but the difference today is staggering. What she’s referring to was not a minor slip or getting tongue-tied.
There’s no way on earth he’ll debate Biden in the fall if he gets the nomination. He simply is not capable of doing so. This demented piece of shit doesn’t know where he is or who he’s running against. Reporters need to be asking him where he is during every single public appearance between now and the election. I have no doubt the failure rate would be near 100%.
There’s no way on earth he’ll debate Biden in the fall if he gets the nomination.
If he does I'm sure he'll be spewing his bullshit lies way faster than the fact checkers can go and probably just personal attacks on Biden. You know, instead of actual policies.
If you remember the last debate, he used it to give a shoutout to The Proud Boys to "Stand back and stand by." We all watched the call to arms for the J6 insurrection on live TV.
I think there are a sizable number of Nimarata’s supporters who won’t vote for Trump.
Republicans who can actually do math, are more concerned with economic issues, actually support the military and haven’t fully bought into their social agenda I.E. Fiscal Conservatives and Defense Hawks have no place in Trumps party. There were a lot of retirements this year by people on this side of the Republican spectrum like Mitt Romney. They don’t want anything to do with Trump and his agenda. They are either fleeing the party or are backing anyone who they think can stop Trump.
These people may not vote for Biden but they definitely won’t vote for Trump.
That's what we all thought in the last two elections, it didn't quite work out that way. Always remember that the last election was run on record turnout. So much turnout, in fact, that Trump not only got more votes than any Republican, he got more votes than any winning candidate before him. The only person in the history of the Republic who got more votes than Trump is Biden. Millions of people who didn't vote for Trump in 2016 saw what he did as President, said "I want more of that!", and changed their mind.
There will be no cavalry of centrist Republicans separating the GOP from itself.
Yeah. I prefer my career politicians to not be subject to bouts of selective policy and opinion shifts upon convenience, personal safety or crowd leanings. But I'm not one of them. What do I know? Maybe this is what the public wants.
After Trump said she won't be his VP, all gloves are off. She is now fighting slightly more aggressively. Good for her. She should have done it from the start. I mean, she won't win and will take votes from Trump. So I'm rooting for her so Biden will have a higher chance of winning.
If she manages to get people to hate Trump, there's a possibility that they won't go vote at all, since there's "two bad guys" there.
This decreases how many votes Trump would get but doesn't decrease how many Biden would get, since, I'd guess, people won't be deciding between her and Biden, but her and Trump.
Haley has said that her next debate would either be with Donald Trump or Joe Biden. Maybe Biden should take her up on that. Debates are really just reality TV programming anyway, if they can come up with a excuse to have a irrelevant debate between the Governors of Florida and California, then they can make this happen while Haley is still a viable candidate.
If Trump declines, then the two of them can take all their time hammering him on his mental deficiencies. And I think Biden is in need of a debate to prove that although he is old, he is still mentally sharp. Biden needs to make sure people know that he is able to do the job, and that all the talk online about his mental decline is really Trump's DARVO showing.
Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley on Saturday questioned Donald Trump’s mental fitness after he appeared to confuse her with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi when talking about the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.
Haley told a crowd of voters in Keene, New Hampshire: “The concern I have is – I’m not saying anything derogatory, but when you’re dealing with the pressures of a presidency, we can’t have someone else that we question whether they’re mentally fit to do it.”
A senior Trump campaign adviser, Chris LaCivita, posted on X Saturday, “Nancy ….Nikki ….its a distinction without a difference.”
Beyond confusing Haley with Pelosi, Trump’s contention that the speaker of the House is responsible for US Capitol security is not accurate, as CNN previously fact-checked.
In the days before Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary, Haley, 52, has sought to highlight her age gap with Trump, 77, and President Joe Biden, 81.
For weeks, Trump’s campaign has treated Haley as a serious threat in New Hampshire — and the candidate himself made that clear with a series of attacks on social media and at a rally in the state.
