Elden Ring introduced bonking enemy windup animations, which is funnier in my opinion.
Dual wield ultra greatsword jumping attack does indeed go bonk.
Verily!
Lies of P: okay, that's it, shot put go brrr
I was watching Ongbal destroy Romeo with the Two Dragons Sword and saw a comment mentioning that a shit put would knock him out of his fire attack in phase 2. Turns out, for that to work you likely need some motivity for it to deal more damage or you need to have dealt some damage to him prior for him be staggered out of the animation, so I promptly died - definitely not as universally applicable as initially made out to be. Quite sad, but I managed without it, luckily
Are there faster strength weapons in ER? The cliché is a slow, hard-hitting weapon, but in Lies of P, for example, you can build yourself a fast weapon that scales off motivity, STR equivalent in LoP, and be pretty much as fast as a standard "dex" weapon.
I can't think of one off the top of my head, but I'm sure there has to be a faster weapon that you could put a str scaling ash on and be fine.
Sort of as there aren't really any slow attacking weapons. Maybe the whip. Or magic.
Recovery times are the bigger factor for big weapons: they have much longer recovery times after attacking so you are punished for your aggression/greed rather than on light weapons.
But the big weapons are balanced in that they cause posture/stance breaks for ripostes much faster than lighter weapons, in so rewarding aggression/greed.
Going through ER with a colossal sword was certainly a choice, especially as my first proper Soulsborne experience.
