also, had a little cry, i have my own workroom now, a place to have a desk and some privacy . I needed that more than anything.
I haven't been to the beach once since I got here. too busy
Are you an early morning beach person or a late evening beach person? I just love the beach in the early morning - everything is so fresh. Later on just isn't the same.
Honestly when you go the beach is one of the best escapes :)
Fuck yeah YarraByte rocking up with the goods. Nice one Brion.
Woke up with a raging headache. Had a lil spew, some ibuprofen, my anti-sads, and some plain bread.
I slept from like ~8pm to ~11am, and I must have slept like an crooked croissant again.
I'm starting to feel normal again.
And hello Yarrabyte! Love the name! And I look forward to your basking in you bot-presence!
💊🫚🍋🍲
Danke schön!! 🙏🏼💜
Brunch chess and coffee with friend soon, then nothing else all weekend. PERFECT!
Guy next to me in the laundromat just discovered his airpods in the dryer while taking his nice, dry clothes out. RIP.
Apple, our shelter and our strength, you listen in love to the cry of your people: hear the prayers we offer for our departed airpods, right and left. Cleanse them of the laundry water and grant them the dryness of hairdryers. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Air-men.
I have beach photos
Forgive me DT & especially Bottom_racer for I have apparently lied to you all.
It turns out that when putting my shoes on, I do in fact go left first when sitting down. It's only when standing up do I go right first.
Please accept this apology and I appreciate your understanding.
Please accept this apology
To the contrary I feel vindicated and less lonely.
Thank you for setting things… right
This morning I paid attention for once and found I put my shoes on right foot first. Not sure if I do that all the time tho. Am more right handed than left (it's complicated).
An offering of food must be made as an apology.
I paid attention this morning and realised I do right first, not left. Sorry DT, I lied too.
Parkrun PB in sunny Lalor this morning. Quite happy with that actually. Now at the stage where I'm enjoying running rather than feeling like it's a punishment.
Good morning YarraByte. Are you here to supervise?
Just finished watching adolescence. Faark. That was amazing but ... Faark.
It was quite the journey, wasn’t it?! And the camera work was amazing
What did I miss, we have a bot now? Awesome stuff! Thankyou to whoever used their clever know how! Today was a bit of a nothing day for me. Have lots of chores to do this weekend but have done none so far. I guess I’ll have to cram it in tomorrow, but yeah that’s probably just wishful thinking. Then I’ll feel annoyed at myself and sad for not planning better and being more motivated. In the evening I have dinner at partners friends place, not super keen on going but feel obligated, which will round off my bleh feelings for the day. So that’s my Sunday sorted.
it is noon
i should get up and go to work
Hey hey, I’m off to the gym
I went even though I really wasn't feeling it this morning. Now I can sit back with a pot of tea and feel virtuous all morning.
I don’t care for Lord of the Rings. I said it. I’m a pariah with a capital P.😔
My migraines occur due to a shoulder imbalance. My right shoulder raises up (like a shrug that's stuck) and rolls forwards.
I asked chatgpt to give me some ideas on how to deal with it.
It gave me some exercises. I did 2 of them. The pain reduced significantly.
If Dandenong rehearsals are a regular thing you can swing by my place and I'll have a look at it. I was no good at the business of myotherapy but I was good at the myo part.
If you think it's nerves, have a read up on brachial plexus flossing.
That's incredibly kind of you!
I head there twice a week one day is on a Saturday.
I'll PM you my details. I would be more than happy to pay for your time :)
You're on this. You are super aware of your body and that counts for a lot.
and rest up , hugs
There's a series of orthopeadic tests call upper limb tension tests (1-4) designed to target different nerves. Most of them involve winding your arm up in a certain position which will put a stretch on the nerve then moving your head away from it (either rotation or lateral flexion depending on the test). Brachial nerve flossing would be along the lines of loading up the arm then doing small pain free motions of your head in the recommended direction to gently tug at the nerve freeing it up and hopefully helping with your issue.
I'll read up more about it today and give it a go.
Honestly, I was shocked the chatgpt exercises didn't make it worse lol
The pain isn't that bad, but it destroys my ability to function. Absolute agony, nausea, pretty much bedbound.
I have to start thinking about dinner - do I do finches & chimps or unfreeze something?
Chippies chippies chippies
You've convinced me. A voiture! (e-bike)
Frogs and clogs! Frogs and clogs!
Nice, the bot is working. I was trying to make one but got stuck in permissions hell with Docker
I usually add docker as a sudo user, it's just a minor reduction in security.
I'll try that. I've added users to the docker group but that hasn't worked
🔋
Sky dark. Pavement wet.
Oh my bedroom was dusty 🫣 but now de-feraled, clothes away. Floors done. Dusted. Bathroom spruced. Gonna have a shower and give that a wipe down while I am in there. Not perfect but feel like I am back on an even keel cleaning wise.
Nearly time to crack a beer I reckon
Crack it I dare you
🍻 Done
I found the cockatoo feather. It was half eaten and put into my jeans.
Washing done ✅
Risotto made and ready to be portioned ✅
Dishwasher unstacked ✅
I have arisen. Wattle birds are fighting over prime spot in the big gum tree. Might go walk down to the water before Marge gets here
Car hunting is not going well. I tried to make an enquiry and the car sales website decided to block me for "suspicious behaviour". There does not seem to be any options to get around it. WTF sort of business does that?
Gym accomplished.
I require sustenance, and then will embark on a day of domesticity. I have
It will be productive, but the nice/chill kind of productive
Everyone has roaches, they might not know it but they're there.
Treat yo'self when done I reckon. That's a full day's work.
Whatever shoe is closest, I reckon, but it’s always sock sock shoe shoe
Good night everyone. Sweet dreams. 😘
It's matcha time 🍻
Anyone got a recommendation for Dentists who do implants in West or Central? Boyo is pretty sure at least 3 of his are end of life. This will be highly unpleasant in multiple ways.
My old dentist in Melbourne was Brunswick Family Dentist. Had my wisdom teeth yanked there. I would go back to them if I moved back to Melbourne, even if they were a trek to get to.
Oh hey there Yarrabyte 🤖
There’s this painting I once saw and I can’t find it again. It was a landscape painting of a cliff on a shore and looked very much like the 19th century romanticism oil paintings.
The layout looked a little like John Constable’s paintings of Weymouth bay but it wasn’t grey and overcast. It was glowing with slightly warm yellow light.
The sky was a desaturated yellow sunrise or sunset haze with clouds. The cliff rising behind was a crumbly warm orangey yellow. The incoming small wave was a light warm blue with a rill of white foam and the jagged rocks in the sea(?) were brown. There were a few smaller flat rocks towards the centre at the bottom of the cliff with a scattering of human bones near the larger central one, including a skull or a few skulls. Those were brownish.
It’s driving me nuts because sometimes I think I’ll have narrowed it down to a particular setting or artist and then I find another very similar but not quite the same in a big way. I think this is an entire genre I’ve stumbled on (Romanticism is apparently big on landscapes and there might have been a British movement) so I’m looking for a needle in a haystack.
I could also be chasing a ghost if the image drew from multiple works and was ai 💔
Edit: Hold up now. The texture of the Etretat chalk cliffs is similar and the beaches of Normandy were popular with impressionists. The jagged rocks and the flat angular rocks are also familiar.
I don’t know man. I know nothing about art history and am going by eye, off only a brief look and an unreliable memory
Looking at pictures now
Courbet?
tho I don't remember him ever painting bones. Bones are usually a memento mori
It really did look like a Courbet and I had been looking through his but no luck so far.
Edit: Oh and it wasn’t the elephant head cliffs of Etretat, more like a rocky strand or a little bay. The shoreline curved inwards at the bottom left (with a rock the small shallow wave gently broke against) and the cliffs rose in the background on the top right.
I had initially thought Weymouth bay but it also looked a little like the Falaise d’Amont. But with some rocks at shoreline and on the sand. And it was more to the right of this view.
Edit: The Monet isn’t quite the right style (there was a little more definition on details in the mystery painting) but the right sort of layout.
The bones were very subtle looking scattered in among a cluster of rocks and at the base of the cliff as if someone had fallen.
Power outage in my area. WiFi not working. Some things are working and some not, so at first I thought it was a fuse. Must be a brown out then. Lucky I charged my shitty power bank.
Bunnings trip accomplished. The snags at Fairfield were particularly good today - tender and juicy and full flavoured. Bunnings was, well, Bunnings. I have a feeling that that store is running down it's stock - or maybe is waiting on delivery from China etc. Distinctly empty shelves. Does anyone know when it's closing down in favor of the East Preston/Reservoir one?
Noooo. They better not close the Fairfield Bunnings. It's my favourite - tends to actually have things in stock when the website says they do, unlike the Preston, Hawthorn and Collingwood ones. And the staff seem to be more chilled out and happy. Also agree the Preston one is a bitch to get in and out of.
The Darebin Rd one? That's annoying if they close it, I like it much better than the new Preston one which is a big pain to get in and out of, even though it's closer to me.
There’s some stuff I buy on a regular basis at Bunnings but they’ve been out of stock for the last month as well :(
There were a lot of pumpkin blossoms this morning. I’ve pollinated the open female flowers and have a total of four potential pumpkins now.
I need to look more carefully though. Was moving a flower aside to see if any more females were budding underneath and then realised my hand was like an inch away from a bee inside it. 😨Luckily I didn’t end up needing the epi pen.
I have Andouille sausage, smoked Kransky, and eye fillet. I guess it’s meat night.
Stir fry made and portioned ✅
Roach traps down ✅
I think I'm going to buy a new car. I've had this car for about 19 years, so the process is a bit daunting.
Any advice regarding who to have inspect it? MyCar have an inspection service for around $250, is there any problem going with them?
I don't think I'm up for trying to sell my current car privately, so I'll probably trade in even though it won't be worth much. I also have no idea how you actually pay for something that costs that much these days - last time I was in the market the standard was a bank cheque.
I used a mobile inspection service to check the car when I bought mine last year. I dunno, they're all much of a muchness. I used ACE Mechanics. Had to call around a bit as the car was outside some service areas.
As for payment I used bank transfer - first for a deposit to secure the car, then the rest split it over two days due to hitting max daily limit. This was with a private seller though. No idea what dealerships do but I doubt cheques are an option even with them...
Dealerships do bank transfers too. I bought from a dealer earlier this year. Mine was a bit weird because not in Melbourne so I did a deposit to hold it then transfered before I went to pick it up.
I did a test drive but not an external inspection because it was basically new and had a Toyota warranty thing.
I got rid of a similar aged car mid lockdown. The process of getting it inspected and de-Takata airbaged was too daunting so I just sold it to a scrapper for peanuts...
I think car sales has an instant quote sale option for an idea of the minium value of your current car. Even with a RWC and inspection people tend to let their car wear a little before sale so if you're buying 2nd hand consider another grand or two for a major service, eg timing belt.
Lexx marathon? Don't mind if i doooo
I was just listening to the Brunnen-G song the other day.
Great track but having just watched wake the dead i'm still laughing at the psycho kai version
