  • Ted is such a champ. Here he is enjoying the balcony. 🙂

And I found Bill after much searching , grabbed him, put him in bathroom with food water and a tray. He is better n. He must have felt so uncomfortable, poor little guy.

    • Bill and ted's (and yours) excellent adventure :)

Poor bill, he'll get the hang of it I'm sure.

      • Thank you 🙂 Bill's getting better by the hour

but i have to be careful or anytime over the next two months as he could still do a runner. He gets scared and with no thought just runs

    • I see part of the ol Mic's cistine chapel in there.

  • Replacing the pita bread kilojoules with iceberg and olive oil for lunch. Turning a salad wrap into a salad. Went okay.

    • I love doing that. Washing the lettuce leaves not so much. Cos lettuce works well too.

      • I've got garden lettuce, just not enough to bulk out a meal, so I'm topping it off with ice berg. It'd be nice to be under the next arbitrary weight loss goal by April, but I'm basically looking to keep losing until get fat winter hits.

  • Did a first aid course today. It was way more interesting then I expected (I am scarred by some terrible OH&S seminars). Also a bit confronting. And there's an app you can sign up to and opt-in to be notified if someone nearby is having a cardiac arrest. So you can hightail it there and help while the ambulance comes. On the one hand I'd love to do that but it also terrifies me

    • I was working at this joint and I had to study for my first aid renewal. The Minister came in with his grand kids to have a chat. This little boy about 4, grabbed the handle of the iron and went to pull it off the ironing board towards himself. Fuck me. I took the biggest step and managed to grab it in time. When they left someone said "You nearly had to use your first aid then. That was a real life scenario".

    • What's the app? I saw one years ago but it never took off. Good concept, poor adoption.

      • GoodSAM. I've not looked into it beyond being told about it today (Red Cross)

edit: looks like you sign up through the ambos and then use the app.

  • Dumbest thing I've done in a bit today.

I went to grab a snack from the lunchroom and ended up with a little biscuit and tried to eat it.

The texture strange and didn't break up like I thought so I chucked it in the bin.

Couple of hours later I look again at the box of snacks and see in light pen on the lid "Not Edible".

It now dawns on me that I tried to eat a biscuit made out of plasticine.

I was tired this morning :(

  • I'm just tired and don't feel up to the drama of potential scammers. I'm just gonna buy from reliable big stores now or buy on sight.

oh, and I did some image searches, the items I were interested on ebay were not described correctly, they were great items but described ikea etc 😠

    • For new stuff sure. I've found facebook and marketplace pretty reliable. People are so happy to deal with a genuine seller/buyer.

      • I dont have fb and am loathe to join.

do you think it's safe, i'd use a new safe email and not give any other personal info

  • Food market was bountiful today. I've got a rolled chicken roast for dinner, and a bag of brussels sprouts to go with it. A random cheese turned out to be cheddar flavoured with salt and vinegar, so I'll have to be a bit judicious in how I use that. I also have tons of fruit of all varieties.

  • Is there a lemmy suggestions box? I like to be able to hide users without blocking them and I'd like to be able to disable comment replys. God dam making some comments out of the instance and I get a bunch of updates from aggressive nerds that I really don't care for. I tended to disable comments on reddit as soon as I'd commented due to notification avoidance.

    • Dumb question, but why not just block them?

      • Hiding feels more like I'm not interested in their content, blocking is for people I don't like. Sometimes when dealing with my own struggles I can do without hearing about someone else's. Even just being able to have their posts auto collapsed.

  • once i got to sleep i slept like a log and for a long time

Bill is not coping well, I think I will have to keep him in a bathroom for a little while until he calms down, has something to eat and drink and pees in a tray

also, it's my observation lazy people make more work in the long run

  • So I have a choice to make about this friday that I need to make today to ask for leave.

Friday's are usually a light work day 9 out 10 times.

Should I take it off this week or stick it out and just spend the day at work?

    • If you really need a break, take the day off. If you have shit to do, take the day off. If you haven't had a day off for a while, take the day off.

Otherwise go in and plan your next day off.

    • I reckon you need the day off.

  • Favourite dog treat recipes please. Biscuit type.

    • 500g lean mince (lamb or chicken works well-beef/pork can be a bit too fatty and go rancid), 300g rolled oats or oatmeal, 1 375g jar peanut butter, 1 tablespoon salt and 1 tablespoon kelp powder (optional). Mix well, and chill in the fridge for 1 hour. Dough will become quite squishy then firm up as it chills. If its too squishy after chilling, mix in more oats. Form into thumblike logs or roll out to 1/2 cm thick and cut bikkie shapes of your choice. Gingerbread men work well, but any shape that's not too pointy will do. I used to make deep indents to make it easier to break into pieces. Bake at about 150 degrees C on a parchment lined tray for about 1 hour until thoroughly dried out and crunchy. Might take longer depending on how mushy the mince is, and logs take a bit longer. Logs should snap when bent not go bendy. Store in an airtight tin out of the fridge for up to 2 weeks if kept dry and cool. This mixture makes a couple of dozen bikkies or a dozen or so logs. Can be re-baked in a low oven if they go limp with storage.

    • I can't cook an upvote. Doggo needs biscuits since his human declines other recompense.

  • I have mowed the "lawn" and even got fancy and trimmed the edges. Now my arms are all shaky.

    • Its that damn fine motor control again - I have this problem too when using the whippersnapper to edge around the trees etc.

  • I just went outside and someone was smoking a big fat smelly joint.

I miss it; made me realise why my sleep is fucked up - I haven't had medical in months now. Always tired and unrested.

I hate how expensive it is. Fuck I need a job so I can sleep again.

    • Uhh, you sure it's not the six hour nap? More exercise will help your sleep too. It usually only takes me a week to shake the no pot insomnia.

      • Haha yes the 6 hour nap had a lot to do with it! I mean just my sleep rhythm in general. I use medical for cptsd symptoms, mainly night-terrors and subsequent insomnia. It stops me from waking up during the bad dreams/terrors, meaning I'm not avoiding sleep, and subsequently falling asleep during the day.

I do need to exercise more in general anyway, which I'm sure would help significantly!

  • New earbuds are great!

Still suss that they're Bluetooth, but seems fine so far, plus I can charge my phone AND listen to music at the same time
