So, I think originally, they went from: The Gulf of We Gave Ourselves Permission to Destroy the environment Unchecked, but it was too exclusive, so in order to be more diverse, they chanced it to, The Gulf of We Gave Ourselves Permission to Destroy EVERYTHING Unchecked.
Now, they could have stopped here, but because of their penchant for wasting everyone’s time and money by doing things that do nothing, they knew they needed to spend more time being ineffectively inept.
So it was then that it was decided to change it to The Gulf of We Don’t Give a Shit and by the Way, Mexico Never Paid for our Border Wall, so This is What They Get! Fuck Your Feelings Lib- only they realized that aside from the “fuck your feelings” bit, these options would be too confusing for their base to understand- and would also prove difficult to say with a slack-jaw.

No one is going to call it that except in the same way "freedom fries" was used. People unfamiliar with the actual name might eventually use "gulf of America" if the maps continue to show it, but right now most of us know the original name and will use it out of habit, if nothing else

Lots of people used freedom fries. Most importantly, though, I distinctly remember it appearing on our school lunch menus. I lived in a very blue-tinged purple town at the time.
Which means, I suspect, that schools will be forced to use the new name.

Your wording is inarticulate and bad. You should feel bad about it.
HOWEVER, you are right that it's a silly argument, the people who hate pronouns don't hate the effort they have to make to call someone by a prefered combinations of sounds to more accurately represent their identity, those people hate using "preferred pronouns" because they hate people who don't conform to some imagined sense of societal authority and isolated standards of "normalcy" and would completely overhaul their own language if it meant preserving their own status-quo perceptions of a stable and immutable society.
Combine that with the very basic, childlike emotional tantrum that is a segment of society that sees a marginalized group getting special treatment and literally feeling jealous that they're not also getting special treatment for "doing nothing" and you have our current situation where the wealthy, donor-class has taken over American society and robbed our treasuries and coffers to make themselves richer and more powerful and successfully distracted our stupidest and most petty segment of society into thinking the problem is other struggling people.

I do like that "Mexico" and "America" follow the Latin convention for gendered nouns and that the name changed genders in the switch. We should thank them for not deadnaming her (the gulf). Watch their expressions as the rationalization strains to address the cognitive dissonance.
