It's actually not hard.
Many languages have clusters that make a different sound than their ingredients.
"short" isn't s-hort, but "sh" is a cluster that makes a different sound.
- sz ~= sh
- cz ~= ch
- rz ~= softer "rsh" like in Persia

1 0 Reply"European Languages" isn't a thing... you're probably just more familiar with Germanic and Romance languages than you are with Slavic languages.
however, if the text was "Slavic languages" then this would still apply because WTF is polish doing
1 0 ReplyThat's what happens when you abandon the alphabet that has letters designed to express the way your language sounds.

2 0 ReplyWell, "screams" is "krzyczy" in Polish so I guess this is accurate. Imo it would be funnier with the actual word.
7 0 ReplyNot really (if you are a native speaker of another Slavic language).

4 1 ReplyPolish has a lot in common with the surrounding languages. Hungarian on the other hand, not at all.
1 0 ReplyPolish is the Perl of the Indo-European language family. Or is it English, if we’re considering orthography?
