Donald Trump infringed copyrights by using Eddy Grant’s iconic "Electric Avenue" in a 2020 campaign video without permission, a federal judge ruled.
Suggesting that he may appeal the ruling, Trump said, "and then we'll take it higher!"

Why isn't the music industry bankrupting his campaign like he was some grandma whose grandkids downloaded a song from Napster while they were visiting?
FS already responded but I’d like to add: a lot of artists condemn his campaign's use of music but sometimes it's not their choice. The rights can be held by a publisher/record label etc.

Probably because almost all popular music is owned by 2 or 3 companies and just about everyone in charge of those play golf with Trump or someone who plays with him.
Many artists don't own their songs and the corporations that do generally like Trump.
This is going to be like that every election cycle for the rest of history
Unless Trump wins, in which case there might not BE any more presidential elections, except maybe one rigged one for appearances..
