hahah so the thousands of Sandy Hook comments on her reddit AMA got to her.
good on her for apologizing, buuuut we all know she would have never done this on her own, It's not like people haven't been commenting about this on her socials for years.
Well I missed this created a topic on it, and deleted it once I got to this one... So I'll post this here...
I wonder what caused this, I'll be an optimist and say I'm going to take her word for it, if only because I have to believe having a kid of her own really showed her how bad the original conspiracy bullshit was.
The cynic in me though is worried the Reddit AMA showed her the internet didn't forget and the target audience for her comic might need an apology before they buy it.
She did just try to do an AMA on r/SquaredCircle, and like 99% of the "questions" were just ripping on her about Sandy Hook. That's probably what prompted this.
It seems sincere enough to me, so I will cautiously believe her until I see otherwise. I'll just rip on her for her transphobia going forward.
It rings a bit self absorbed with trying to explain herself initially but overall she's at least made it very clear she's unreservedly apologising for the action and that she knows she fucked up and what exactly the fuckup was, which is the checklist of a good apology.
8/10 as apologies go, assuming it's genuine, otherwise she's got a great PR team.
Maybe it was a triple bluff: make a terrible AMA to market a mediocre comic, to make the sandy hook thing come up again so she can apologise publicly and get a bunch of brownie points and signal boost her comic's kickstarter.
Yeah the 2nd page of the apology sounds fairly genuine. The first page makes me laugh my tits off. Still a far better apology that I'd have ever expected.
It's a pity she had to see her income go down to muster an apology. Regardless, it seems genuine - the general disregard for paragraphs (as well as avoiding a line of separation when we venture with one) being the dead giveaway here.
