Democrats have made restoring abortion access a cornerstone of their campaign for the White House and Congress, but there are divisions over what, exactly, that means.
Given the deplorable state of women's health even before Roe was struck down, might be a good idea to go farther and throw out the Hyde Amendment while you're at it. There's no compelling reason to deny women access to contraception and termination as part of Medicaid, given that this was routinely available through private insurance for decades.
America is first and foremost a military complex. They're loving this moment in history because they get to pound out tons of armaments for Israel and Ukraine, and not get put in hot water for putting American soldiers at risk. Of course they won't stop it. One of the largest spends is US militarism.
It isn't enough. We need codified guarantees of an unalienable right to bodily autonomy for all citizens, with explicit statements clarifying that the people have a right to abortion and contraception so that courts can't willfully misinterpret the law.
As a stepping stone to that goal reinstating roe is a good first step.
