I read the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy in like 3rd or 4th grade (my mom loved them and wanted to share). There's one line describing a "triple-breasted whore of Eroticon Six" which was, at the tender age of ten or so, the first time I'd encountered the word "whore". I pronounced it phonetically with the leading "w" for years before someone corrected me. Not that it came up often, being the kind of ten-year-old who reads stuff like that. But still.
Every now and then I still read it that way in my head and chuckle.

When I first heard him say it on Always Sunny I was like
My mother made fun of me for saying segue incorrectly as a child and that made me never do it to someone else. I just try to work the word they used into a sentence so they can hear the pronunciation I know. Heck, I might be the incorrect one and get a free lesson so it's win-win.

This came up recent in a video I watched where they were talking about sidereal vs solar days. I always pronounced it as a two syllable side - real but apparently it's more like a three syllable side aerial .
English is tough.
