Reminds me of Buck Angel telling transphobes he'd have to use the bathroom with their daughters if he were forced to use the one that corresponded with his sex at birth.
This really does get at the hypocrisy at the heart of these attempts to dictate which bathrooms people are permitted to use. "No, I don't want them using that bathroom either. I don't want that person or people like that person to be allowed to exist at all."
so when a trans girl doesn't pass as a girl they tell her they'll never be a girl but when a trans guy is absolutely not passing as a girl in any possible way they are a girl?? make it make sense.
to be fair, when a transgirl passes, transphobes will say they'll never be a woman and look like a man. Hell, transphobes will do that to cispeople in general because they hate anyone who doesn't fit exactly into their mold. There's even whole transvestigation groups that claim certain celebrities are trans because of slight features of how they look.
Literally saw a transvestigation post claiming Andre the Giant was trans.
One time my friend told me they could always tell trans women and cis women apart, so I showed him a picture of Molly Ringwald in Breakfast Club and he guessed "trans" lmao.
He claimed it didn't prove anything because I tricked him.
Because "woman" is treated as a political stance rather than a deeply complex id between society, biology, and the self.
When they ask you to define "woman", don't give them a biological answer. Give them a political answer; a woman is someone who identifies as a woman and faces similar forms of oppression.
Oh. I didn't even realise the comment was aimed at him. My interpretation was that he's talking to an actual little girl trying to act like a grownup or something.
It's worse than that. One of my conservative friends (I know, but it's practically the only variety of people around here) told me he could always tell whether or not someone was trans... I showed him a picture of Molly Ringwald in Breakfast Club and he said "trans" lol.
But of course he felt like it didn't count, because I "tricked" him. 🙄
I always wonder why they care so much.
My ex-girlfriend was really transphobic, and i didn't even know, because it never really came up.
One day we were grocery shopping and she pointed at some dude and asked me if i think she's a "tranny". I was really confused and didn't even look and said i really don't care.
A few weeks later we went to a concert and she pointed at a guy with long hair and said: "that guy is 100% a woman". I said: "who gives a shit, maybe?" She just kept poking. "Does she think we don't know?" I got so angry and told her to shut up, he's just trying to live his life. Then she started a huge fight saying that i'm siding with other people instead of her.
I think most transphobe people don't even realise that it's not just men with makeup. They don't want a dangerous men with makeup in a women's bathroom, which seems to be the only narrative they have.
What do they do when some hairy beefcake goes to the women's bathroom, because he also used to be a woman? Is that what they want?
On February 27th, 2024, TikToker[1] @thegravelbro, aka Leo Macallan, posted a video response to a commenter who wrote, "Sorry miss you are still a girl no matter wat u do." The comment is meant to insult Macallan, who is a trans man. Macallan responds, "Imagine seeing me in public and calling me 'miss.' Who looks more mentally unstable, me or you?" He then winks and leaves the video on a still of himself with crossed arms for 50 seconds (shown below). The video gained over 1.1 million views in six days.
Sorry it’s a stolen meme, don’t remember from where
I took it as a criticism of people who insist on misgendering someone.
Edit and to add to this, some trans fems and drag queens are so feminine, that bigot women would look less feminine in comparison. So I took this meme as a criticism of unnecessary gendering.
No one needs to look a certain way or be attractive or whatever, but misgendering is just unnecessary and unacceptable.
As a transhumanist I've wanted to do that for a long time. The way I see it, how well accepted trans people are today will set a social precedent. The same bioconservatives misgendering today will tell us that we're not people tomorrow.
