They were both great movies in my opinion. I think the the biggest factor here is that there is a larger audience for Inside Out 2.
You think that gives them anxiety, envy, nostalgia, ennui, or embarrassment?
Other studios envy them for sure. Hollywood feels a lot of nostalgia for the 2019 box office year, they probably have lots of anxiety that audiences won't go back to theaters. It's an embarrassment that they haven't been able to entice people back to cinemas, so the studios will do anything to keep these feeling of ennui at bay.

Wow, was it that good? I thought the reviews were that it was alright, but not as good as the first one. Or was I mistaken? Or was I right, but they just found a good spot where no other real good movies were out?
I thought it was on par with the first. Very good imo. Without spoilers I can say they depicted some challenging emotions very well. My family is filled with anxiety, so much that pretty much everyone is on some form of medication. Needless to say, this movie resonated well with my family.
Keep in mind that Dune 2 didn't benefit from minivans full of kids showing up to see it.
True. Especially if it's like the only kids movie out right now.
I would classify it as "good, but not as good as the first one". And notably better than Pixar's recent efforts.
