honestly it's guilded, but before the enshittification of discord mobile discord wasn't far off and also it's easier to get mod in guilded, though matrix being federated is interesting. and revolt i really haven't tried but i have a account there

Matrix. I have bridges set up so I can message to Discord or WhatsApp through it.
Revolt is like Discord, but FOSS and run by some other people. Unfortunately it's not federated, or else I'm ranking it higher than everything.
Revolt devs are kinda hostile to other instances which is a shame
Tbh not even sure they really care about FOSS status, seems more like just a buzzword thing or maybe trying to pull a Duolingo
