- Juneteenth Flag
I didn't realize there was one for this. Aside from the text I think it's really nice. Unique but simplistic.
- Original Sci Fi Flag Idea - Discuss and Critique Please
I came up with an idea for a flag of an interstellar federation for a Sci Fi project I've got floating around in my head. I don't think anything much will come of it, but I figured I might as well share my flag idea with you guys and see what you think.
The Flag of the Neo-Terran Federation is as follows: A deep blue field with a single black pile in the top quadrant. It has a center charge of a golden Phoenix, in a stylized form similar to Art Deco, the leading edges of its outstretched wings following the lines of the black pile. Beneath the wings of the phoenix are a number of Stars equaling the systems of the Federation.
I would like to know what you think of this design, as well as what you can infer of the federation based on its symbolism; mainly to make sure I got the symbolism correct. If anyone wants to draw and post this, I would be thrilled to see it.
- Buddhist flag spotted in the wild
I didn't expect to see this in the rural western US.
Please pardon the water drops in the image. I was shooting through a car window.

- My first flag! For the small city of Morrilton, AR, USA
Criticism is welcome!
Symbolism breakdown:
- The gold semicircle represents the rising or setting sun, a symbol of change. Morrilton is currently growing after a period of decline, so this sun represents the glories of the past and of the future.
- The white field represents a blank slate, the city's enormous potential to grow. It also represents the sense of morality and community that binds its people together.
- The green band represents Petit Jean mountain just outside the city, and the semicircular cutout represents the Arkansas River Valley which encompasses Morrilton and many of its neighbors.
- The ruddy semicircle with white border represents a wine glass; Morrilton is the seat of Conway county, where the sale of alcohol is allowed, surrounded by dry counties to the east, north, and west. The color also represents Morrilton's 3 major educational institutions (UACCM, SCCSD, and Sacred Heart) all of whose primary school colors are a shade of red.
- The blue band represents the Arkansas River, on whose shores the original settlement was built. This further represents the rich history of the city, as well as the past and present flow of trade along the river, railroads, and I-40.
I feel somewhat confident in the geometry of this design, but I don't know anything about color theory so I'm open to suggestions on that. The present colors were picked with the help of an AI, followed by some mathematical derivation using software and hand tweaking.
- Today marks 20 years since Georgia changed its flag! They got rid of a, IMO quite ugly, brown flag, replacing it with the much prettier red and white flag of the medieval Kingdom of Georgia.
The current flag dates back to the middle ages, maybe as far as the 12th century. This makes it not only one of the youngest national flags of the world (since 2004), but also one of the oldest! (Even if it has been in disuse for most of its history.)
The red cross on white background comes from the flag of the late antique Kingdom of Iberia (located in present day Georgia and unrelated to the Iberian Peninsula). The four crosses are Bolnisi crosses, a Georgian national symbol, taken from an ornament found in the 5th century Bolnisi Sioni church.
Also check out their quite different naval ensign:
- NH Flag Redesign
Made this rough draft on my phone after finding out the state of New Hampshire has a proposal to add the state motto to the flag (a seal on bedsheet) in Times New Roman font to try and make it unique.
Symbolism: It is a depiction of an ice axe (or mountaineering axe) at the summit of a mountain. NH is home to the White Mountains, including the highest peaks in New England. It symbolizes rugged determination in the face of adversity.
- Maine again
Seeing @ThatOneKirbyMain2568@kbin.social’s Maine redesign inspired me to tweak edit it myself.
- of course the star belongs in the northeastern corner of the flag, and
- of course we can keep the blue found in earlier flags of Maine, but
- @ThatOneKirbyMain2568@kbin.social is right: why not three vertical stripes?

It's a low bar to make the California flag better, but I woke up and decided to give it a go. It's my first attempt. Let me know what you think

I'm not a fan of how much the design was changed (i.e., the fact that they just completely got rid of the stripes), but it's still a pretty solid flag!
