- [XFCE] Trying out a new layout for a vertical monitor
I feel like you don't see a lot of vertical setups here so I wanted to share what I've done so far. I found having everything at the top was way too dense so I moved it to the side but added a second panel at the top in a different color (to go with the wallpaper) for the window buttons.

- [Hyprland] Took way too long to get to this half-cooked state
Some time ago, someone convinced me to try out Hyprland, and I've been working on this one ever since. It might look minimalistic, but not for the lack of trying.

I still struggle with getting the colors right. Does any of yall have an advice about how to properly choose colors? The repo for the app is at: https://github.com/lasermtv07/i3colors The i3 theme is custom, the vim theme is sorbet and the alacritty theme is modified cyber_punk_neon.

- How do you deal with VLC themes + tiler ?
I'm curious, what do you do about VLC if you use a tiling WM ?
- Do you ignore the pain and still use a theme ?
- Do you not use a theme and live with it messing up your nice color scheme ?
- Do you just not use VLC ?
- My windows 10 themed plasma desktop
I just combined win10xos and win10os and I also use windows 7 show desktop and a windows 10 cursor pack and segoe ui font i even made my firefox look like edge (except for the icon) and i think i should change the icon of the desktop firefox link

Notes:
- I plan to make my own GTK and Qt themes for this machine, but Mint-L is a pretty good fit for now.
- OpenBSD-current is fairly unstable. I'll be switching back to -stable or -release when 7.6 is released in October.
- I picked the Polybar colour scheme from Amethyst (the character from Steven Universe). This is what I will use for the custom GTK and Qt themes.
- [Plasma] Gruvbox light inspired
I was unable to find Gruvbox light theme, so I decided to create one myself. The thing is still WIP and will be for a while but works for me atm. Key components are color scheme and desktoptheme. Over that I use simp1e gruvbox dark cursor, Tela light icons and Sonokai espresso Konsole theme (but I'm considering switch to gruvbox as well). You can explore it on my GitLab

- Further refinements to my latest XFCE rice...
Using a less aggressive approach to rounding the corners on the desktop elements this time. Overall theme is Material-Black-Cherry but I color sampled the tree she's reclining on for the desktop elements. Gruvbox-Material-Black for the icon set.
- [Hyprland] Kind of a port of my i3 Gruvbox rice to Hyprland.
Lemme know if someone would like the dot files. Edit: This is my original first rice, in i3: https://lemmy.ml/post/13658880. I tried to bring the same feel to this Hyprland rice.
- [Gentoo] IBM boot logo
Video
Gentoo with a custom kernel made using the fantastic guidance from the wiki.
I replaced the tux boot logo with an IBM one, I used this guide to do that: https://linuxlink.timesys.com/docs/wiki/engineering/HOWTO_Use_a_custom_boot_logo (is not that hard)
Things that don't work yet:
- Webcam microphone
Conclusion about Gentoo: Waiting for packages to compile is annoying. But the flexibility and the Gentoo wiki makes up for it. Also Gentoo now has binary packages so I don't have to wait for packages that I don't care about to compile.
