Statewide Positions Secretary of State: Tobias Read (D, 71%) will run against disgraced state senator (who is barred from running for senate) Dennis Linthicum (R, 65%)
State Treasurer: Elizabeth Steiner (D, 78%) will run against another disgraced state senator who is barred from running, Brian Boquist (R, uncontested)
Attorney General: Dan Rayfield (D, 76%) will run against Will Lathrop (R, 64%)
Other Notable Contested Races: US Representative, 3rd Dist: Current State Rep Maxine Dexter (D, 50.7%) beats out former Multnomah county commissioner Susheela Jayapal (D, 28.5%)
State Representative, 12th Dist: Darin Harbick (R, 82%) beats out current representative Charlie Conrad (R, 18%) for the republican nomination. No other candidates filed for any other party, so Harbick is the de-facto winner of the position. Conrad faced this primary challenge by Harbick due to his Yes vote on HB2002 that created legal protections for abortion rights and transgender care. Conrad was publicly censured and disowned by the state Republican Party due to his vote not toeing the party line. Read more here.
Personally Irksome: State Senate District 28: Diane Linthicum (R, 59%), the wife and co-conspirator of disgraced senator Dennis Linthicum, beats out current Klamath County Commissioner Dave Henslee (R, 41%) for the republican nomination. No other candidates filed for any other party, so Linthicum is the de-facto winner of the position. Mrs. Linthicum has no real world qualifications to be Senator beyond being the husband of the current disgraced Senator, and has all but openly said she is only running to be the mouth of her husband as to bypass the election restrictions.

- A story about Boomers in Tillamook, OR on reddit
Thought the folks on lemmy would like this.
Original: https://www.reddit.com/r/BoomersBeingFools/comments/1by5wkx/boomer_lady_at_the_water_company_asked_if_i_sold/
Ok… picture it… Tillamook, Oregon. Yes, THAT Tillamook. Tiny town with more cows than people and most people who live there are old and crotchety. When you call the water company in the rural areas around town, a lady just answers, “Hello,” in a cranky voice that sounds like she was doing something way more important when you called her. She hand writes your bill on paper note cards and they don’t accept anything but checks as payment.
Anyway, a couple weeks ago I call and tell her that I need to disconnect the water or put it in the new person’s name.
Her: “It’ll be easier to just put it in the new person’s name. Do you know it?”
Me: [name that sounds like maaaaaaybe it could Asian, but not really]
Her: [name]? Are they Chinese?
Me: I don’t know, but they’re moving over from Hawaii. So I kinda doubt it.
Her: Well, good. Cause you know all them Chinese around here are all a bunch of drug dealers.
Me: Uhhhhhh.
Her: Alright, I got it down. You’ll get one more bill. [click]
I sat there for a minute with my phone in my had, wondering what the fuck I had just heard. I always felt like everyone in that town had a robe and hood in their closet, but they usually kept it pretty low key. In any event, I sure hope that she gets to see the new people and rest assured that they have pretty, white faces.
Fucking boomers. Especially rural, white boomers.

The Gervais City Council voted Feb. 20 to fire Mark Chase, the second time in less than eight years that an Oregon city had fired him as police chief.
The independent investigator, southern Oregon attorney David Groff, also reported that Chase had favored some officers over others, made inappropriate sexual comments during a pat down and a training exercise, accused an officer of going easy on migrant workers because she was, in his words, “Hispanic too,” and allegedly told an officer that if he ever shoots a suspect to “put five more in him so he’s gone.”
