Detroit Redwings - LGRW!
- Red Wings RFA Wrap-up: How are we feeling?
With today's signing of Mo Seider, all of the Red Wings' free agents are accounted for for the upcoming season!
What are your thoughts on these contracts?
I think that Mo and Ray's will age very well. I wish we could have gotten Seider on an 8 year deal, but I'm still happy with what we got, and I think it'll be nice to not have them both coming off the books in the same year. I also have a lot of faith in Berggren and I'm excited to see what he does on this prove-it deal!

- Canes fan in town for the game
Happen to be in town for the Canes v Redwings game on 12/14. Picked up a ticket. Any must haves to eat at the stadium? Any do/don'ts? Cheers for a good game.
- Kane signing
How are we all feeling about the news? I personally love it, low risk high reward and hopefully it'll make Chicago fans sad.

Derek Lalonde explains why he gravitates towards J.T. Compher, and it starts with reliability.
Loving the grit and chemistry of the 2nd line through the first 4 games.

DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings today acquired defenseman Jeff Petry from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for defenseman Gustav Lindstrom and a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. > Lindstrom and a 4th round pick. Pens retain $1.3 million, Canadiens and Red Wings pay $2.3 million each. Contract has 2 remaining years. Seems like a relatively even trade of a veteran presence for a young defensman.
- Red Wings prospect observations from the World Junior Summer Showcasetheathletic.com What Sandin Pellikka, Augustine and Johansson showed at the World Junior Summer Showcase
Two of Detroit's high 2023 draft picks, plus a recent organizational riser, took the ice for a weeklong tournament in Plymouth, Mich.
There is a good article from Max Bultman regarding several red Wings Prospects. It sounds like Pellikka still has a way to go but Johannson may be closer to pushing for a roster spot. I'm also trying to crosspost this into the NHL community since it seems to be pretty quiet in team communities during the summer.

The extension was already posted but not the trade. This is a really solid deal for us. Great option on the 1st rounder, an expiring/expendable Kubalik, and a mid-range D man in Sebrango (whom I liked but is also at best currently 4th or 5th on our defensive prospect depth chart). No Berggren/simlar. Overall, nice piece of business.
- Dylan Larkin Stats Compared to Alex DeBrincat since 2020
Looking at stats alone, DeBrincat is likely to get around a similar contract as Larkin around $8.5 million. Is he worth the huge contract for the Red Wings?

Hearing Red Wings will place Filip Zadina on unconditional waivers at 12 noon ET today for purposes of mutual contract termination.
Zadina is foregoing the $4.56 million remaining on his deal, seeking a fresh start elsewhere. Huge courage to bet on himself.
- Way-too-early 2024 Mock Drafttheathletic.com 2024 NHL Mock Draft: Way-too-early predictions from Corey Pronman
After a 2023 NHL Draft that lacked premier defense talent, the way-too-early indicators are that 2024 will be the opposite.
Good to start getting a feel for who's got eyes on them heading into 2024. If this were reddit there'd already be 10 posts of people saying Pronman sucks. I personally really appreciate him, but also would probably end up slightly dead inside if we draft 8OA next year.
Regardless, good to start learning these talents. Imagine drafting another Eiserman...

Steve Yzerman has changed roughly 25 percent of the roster from the end of last season.
Like the article suggests, I'm not entirely sure we're better on paper than last year.
Obviously there's more to a good hockey team than being good on paper though. What are everyone's thoughts?

What are your thoughts post draft? Are you a doomer and denier of the Yzerplan, or have you drank the Kool aid? Maybe somewhere in between?

The Detroit Red Wings have inquired about the possibility of acquiring Travis Konecny or Alex DeBrincat over the next week,
I'd be really happy with Debrincat or Konecny, what does everyone else think? Will Stevie Y make a move at the draft? Since we can't get lotto luck it's time to make our own.

Detroit is on the list and he's a local kid who can put up 40 goals. What do y'all think about going for him and what price would you be willing to pay?
- Potential Erik Karlsson trade?
Hello Detroit!
Swedish hockeyfan coming in peace!
Hockeymedia has been speculating about San Jose wanting to trade EK65 during the summer. He wants to go to a team that can make a run for the cup and compete - and that team will also have to have cap to take in his contract. Even if the Sharks retain salary, I'd guess he'd be around $8M.
I've been thinking - maybe he could be a piece in Yzerplan? Does it make any sense to you guys?
- Picks 9 and 17
What's your ideal (and somewhat realistic - no Bedard at 9) outcome for our two picks in the draft this year? I would love if we could get Dvorsky at 9 and Moore at 17, I think it's on the outside range of possible.
