It's not an either or situation, there is plenty of blame to go around. But I believe that the people with the most power are the most responsible. I know that runs counter to American corporate culture and can be a cultural shock to hear.
Overproduction of commodities is certainly a problem for capitalists. But the workers get to enjoy a lower cost of living. Like I would much prefer we built ghost cities (Chengdu was derided as a ghost city at one point) than have a decades long housing crisis with no signs of improving unless we deport millions of people.
So I guess you'd say we should change nothing and ignore the wildly eroding support and the poll numbers showing the democratic party has just 28% favorability?
My brother in Christ, you're not talking to a liberal here.
He has jumped onto the "abundance" strategy with his plan to address the housing crisis: cut out "special interests" like unions and environmentalists from power. If your project is affordable housing then your union rate is no longer accepted. So yes, his policy direction is about making the bargaining table smaller by kicking out some of the middle class.
Except MAGA is not neoliberalism unless we think tariffs are now "free trade". I get the point that neither party will wield power against capitalism, but they still use their power differently.
I think in order to be a good psychiatrist you need to understand what your patient is "babbling" about. But you also need to be able to challenge their understanding and conclusions about the world so they engage with the problem in a healthy manner. Like if the guy is worried how AI is making the internet and world more dead then maybe don't go to the AI to be understood.
The RVs are people's homes because there is a shortage of housing. They move their RV from time to time to avoid tickets/police. The vehicles usually look worn down because people are literally living out of them. Eventually the RV won't work anymore and it gets towed and the family that was living out of it has to find somewhere else to sleep. Usually nothing illegal is happening because most of them understand they're living off the good graces of others. But there are a lot of people that feel uncomfortable around unhoused people and would rather vilify their neighbors than take a hard look at that discomfort.
Edit: according to the video meth and prostitution were happening, but then I have to wonder why the police were not doing anything about the obvious crimes. Did the police think the neighbors were just making stuff up?
It's as if the guy who got elected by appealing to those who will always learn the wrong lessons, learned the wrong lessons from his heart death experience
Is it because they are talking about Epstein? No? That's weird.
