Does crates.io have a backup plan?
@barsoap @GetOffMyLan It's not even all that hypothetical tbh. I don't recall the details exactly but there was a big scare a few years ago when .org changed hands.
Semver violations are common, better tooling is the answer
@sugar_in_your_tea If you're interested, I recommend looking at how Elm does it. Elm has automatic semver enforcement in its package system.

missing stuff: major change
new stuff: minor change
patch: internal implementation change.
