  • I haven't been here as long as many but it seriously is like an oasis of kindness for a queer leftist compared to any other online group I've seen. People here aren't kind to Nazis or nazi-adjacent posters though, as it should be.

People who complain about hexbear on other instances are nearly always liberal or further right trolls who come and post some obvious bullshit, get berated for sharing reactionary propaganda, then often get banned because they get mad and show their true racist or transphobic colors and start using slurs or generally become toxic.

Pretty much anyone I've ever seen come and argue in good faith, with a real misunderstanding or false info, or just something that they disagree with here will be met with reasonable clarification.

  • Once it's known it's actually a deathcamp they can take it down in a day and scrub all evidence. And they probably intend to have people held be at risk of dying from the weather, like hurricanes and such that, oh no, 'nobody could have predicted' because they have completely gutted hurricane and disaster preparedness from NOAA and other agencies.

  • If this is the same data I saw from another article the researchers showed that cleaning the caps with compressed air before putting them on bottles reduced the plastic by a large margin.

  • You should ask yourself why it is that the countries that are arming Ukraine are the exact same countries that are arming Israel. You think it's just a coincidence or something?

The ideology of just opposing everything the western bloc supports is continually vindicated

  • I feel dread and such often but I look forward to a positive future and do everything I can that I believe would help that come to be no matter how unlikely, because only seeing negative futures just makes them that much more likely. The present is already ruled by misery, I won't let them steal my hopes too.

  • A few cities I've been in have leftist bookstores/libraries, they are usually more anarchist than 'tankie' technically but welcoming of real leftists in general.

  • Privately-owned small machine shops do all sorts of work for the military industry in the US, there's one not far from me that's a local no name company with one workshop. They manufacture a specific piece of metal that's used in a type of armored vehicle, or something similar. You can drive right by the place, looks just like any other non-descript industrial building.

  • Oh wow haha, it was my first thought just based on your comment about the coastal town knowing not what coast or country, it's surprising how close you can get to knowing where a place is with little information sometimes. After I commented I thought "probably not Newport itself, maybe a smaller town down the coast a bit."

  • At this point I have come to expect any level of depravity imaginable, almost the more unbelievably evil it is seems to me to mean it's even more likely to be true. Anyone who isn't a Zionist already knows the mountains of evidence of atrocities, so I don't see what the purpose of fabricating a story like this would be. Except maybe to inflict even more psychological damage.

  • Good post, thank you, I was unaware of the history of the term. Propaganda like this is easy to spread in the west when there is so little crossover between the media of the mainstream Anglophone world and predominantly Muslim nations. One major dogwhistle I heard in the US through the 'War on Terror' was "radical islamists", to further cement the connotation.

...a Euro-American political tradition in which governance is supposedly “neutral” while in reality being saturated with Judeo-Christian norms.

Nearly all children in the US recite a pledge including "one nation, under God" each day throughout all years of public school education. Imagine how the American liberal would feel seeing a group of children required to say something like "praise Allah, bless the nation". They would shit themselves at the thought of the horrifying "authoritarian religious indoctrination".

  • Me and a lib manager I had at a retail job were complaining about a US vet customer who was an asshole, he had kept pointing out how he was a veteran, I said "maybe if he fought the Nazis or something I'd care" and my manager said "who do you think inspired the Nazis??" It was then I knew he was a true cool one.

  • I was curious if cooking opiates would reduce their potency, when I searched earlier there was a study about the effects of baking on poppy seeds that showed little reduction in opioid levels. It might be different in pill form though.

  • How many other countries have hundreds of armored bulldozers in their "defensive military"? This is rhetorical but also tbh I don't know if that's actually uncommon.

  • According to statistics from Priori Data, no idea how reputable this site is though

    https://prioridata.com/data/social-media-usage/:

But they have different demographics and depending on the matter you want to advocate for the topic may be more suppressed on some, for example Facebook and especially Twitter moderation can be bad on leftist or antifascist content.

I would think the best is to use as many as possible if you want the highest reach, it's possible to have accounts that repost from other sites if you don't want to manage multiple. Facebook has high numbers but tons of bots, same with Twitter.

  • When European settlers first saw the great horned owl in the west they called it the 'flying tiger' because it looked like a cat in a tree

  • At least it was money spent on some terrible looking marching instead of bombing families. The sponsors are just too on the nose, this would all come off as the worst writing if it wasn't real.

  • Most of them, I haven't looked into all the details but among massive cuts to healthcare is a "$155.2 billion increase in funding for immigration- and border-enforcement provisions"

    https://5calls.org/issue/ice-mass-deportation-budget-reconciliation/

But they are voting on amendments now so it may be marginally less horrific once it's passed.

  • I had a weird dog that would do that, she'd get the low ones, I'd pick the middle and birds would get the ones we couldn't reach, it was a lovely coming together of species.
