  • It does show up as a comment in https://piefed.social/c/internetisbeautiful, but not on https://sh.itjust.works/c/internetisbeautiful@piefed.social.

    I posted a test reply from my PieFed account, but never received a reply notification on my sh.itjust.works account.

    @rimu@piefed.social

    If the original posters never see new replies, are there sufficient advantages to warrant leaving the comment sections open?

    It feels similar (though not identical) to projects mirroring posts and comments from Reddit. Sure, the content is there, but the people aren't.

    Might it be better to lock all of the threads upon migration, essentially preserving a "read-only" archive?

  • If I understand correctly, Lemmy users are currently not able to see the migrated posts.

    Question: If someone replies to a Lemmy user's post or comment which was migrated, will that Lemmy user be notified?

    Example: I left a comment under this post back when it was on !internetisbeautiful@lemm.ee. I can't currently see the piefed copy of my comment (or that post) on my home instance. What happens when someone replies to it?

  • https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potassium_alum

    I find these sections of the wikipedia article amusing:

    Alum may be used in depilatory waxes used for the removal of body hair or applied to freshly waxed skin as a soothing agent.

    Potassium alum may be a weak irritant to the skin.

    I guess it's a soothing irritant? Have you found it to be either soothing or irritating?

  • pretty hands-off

    Given that the single admin @SDF@lemmy.sdf.org hasn't been active in two years, yeah, I'd say that counts as "pretty hands-off". The SDF organization as a whole will probably be around for decades to come, but they don't seem to care that much about their Lemmy instance.
