  • all good haha, was just confused

  • hippies are an annoying side effect of the american "new left" of the 60s. a revival of leftism, sure, but not one that was too effective or theory-based at all. the entire thing was kinda centered around the vietnam war, which was a fantastic mobilizer for the years that it was happening, but once the united states was defeated in vietnam and pulled out and the war ended, all the hippies stopped caring and settled down while they gave birth to one of the most wretched groups, the yuppies. the hippies were basically like the first iteration of the "calls themself a leftist but still buys some CIA propaganda" type you see all too often nowadays. america was bad, sure, but the soviet union was JUST as bad. lets just have world peace and everyone in harmony, man. there were of course active radical marxist-leninists, and not to mention the incredible black panther party, but i think they were kinda overshadowed in general by the "new left" hippies who were so high on CIA LSD that they didn't really do much in the country aside from protest the war that was already on its way out thanks to the brave soldiers of the NVA.

nowadays, you can find hippies living in million-dollar homes in cities that were once cool and radical and are now just havens for the rich (think san francisco), living out all the ideals that they "rebelled against" in the 60s and posting 5G covid conspiracy theories online.

  • im curious where you heard that the dead kennedy's were making music in the 60s

  • the right trying to “stop tyranny” is like the body trying to stop its own heart from beating.

  • of course the US government will never crack down on far-right terrorism, then they'd be stopping their own activities. this is purely just my leftist proposition of something that must happen to stop a lot of mass shootings. obviously, though, the US state is more interested in protecting the profits of the gun industry and the activities of the right. this would be an essential thing for a proletarian revolutionary state to do though.

  • cracking down on the right-wing. seriously. the vast majority of US mass shootings that i can remember are done by violent white supremacists and fascists. the right is dangerous and will always use extreme and horrific violence to achieve their ways. so the leftist answer would be to suppress the activities and organizing of fascists heavily.

  • definitely the latter. i think somehow a CIA handler got a hold of him and is using him. i remember he previously attained some meme status when he made a video advertising himself to potential girlfriends online that spread around a little bit.

  • this guy is so obviously some kind of CIA plant online. his constant pandering to americans/british and bullshit about “bringing democracy to china” is too perfect.

  • this article still makes slight concessions to appease the capitalists. "they just missed, it was just a little whoopsie!". sometimes its easier for them to skew the truth in their favor than to deny it.

  • "A Ukrainian fighter from the Odin unit keeps watch"

why is it called the odin unit

  • of course there will be shared traits among life (assuming extraterrestrial life would also be carbon based), but yeah it depends and at this point is just speculation with no basis unfortunately.

  • the possible detection of dimethyl sulfide on K2-18 b by JWST is incredible. one of the most convincing leads i've seen so far.

  • its also hilarious that people are thinking we just happened to get our depictions of aliens correct. media portrayed them as little gray humanoids, and wow look they are little gray humanoids! in reality we don't even know the slightest thing about what extraterrestrial life might look like, there's no reason they HAVE to be humanoids (which is already an anatomical configuration that's optimized for earth) or gray.

  • smaller towns. around 100-200k people. i've spent most of my life in them and like having things close by and the atmosphere.

  • her attributing scientific progress solely to capitalist backing is pathetic. the soviet union went from feudalism to sending the first man in space in around 50 years. please tell me more about how capitalism has been efficient in scientific research that isn't related to warfare and cool new killing machines.

  • halo: CE. my first game and one of my favorites to this day. the pillar of autumn level gives me a rush of nostalgia every time.

  • rising storm 2 lets you play in multiplayer matches as the people's army of vietnam/national liberation front fighting against american imperialist invaders. you can use traps on them, blow their helicopters out of the sky, etc.
