The updates that are bringing Splatoon 1 and #MarioKart8 back online are now out!

Splatoon US patch notes • Mario Kart 8 US patch notes

The respective updated version numbers for both games are 2.12.1 for Splatoon and 4.2.0 for Mario Kart 8.

The changes listed for Splatoon 1 are:

• Fixed vulnerability related to online battles

And Mario Kart 8 has an additional change:

• Deleted “Recommended” in tournaments

I find this incredibly disappointing considering both games have a hacking issue to the best of my knowledge (@SMAyden has a ton of clips of Splatoon 1 hackers) and there is NO excuse for spending 5 months on this if they haven't made it harder for people to exploit both games.

\#WiiU warriors, rejoice!

You no longer need to hook up to @pretendo to play your favourites online, Nintendo has officially announced at 2am BST tomorrow, you will finally be able to play Splatoon 1 and #MarioKart8 tomorrow again online!

I'm planning to join in on a live stream tomorrow, probably around 7pm, I'll have more information on my main account if you want to join in with me (I'm currently using @experiencer).

It looks like to play online, you will need to probably download the 4.1.1 update for Mario Kart 8 (I'm purely going off of memory for version numbers) and the 2.0.13 update for Splatoon 1, they'll be released at the time stated at the beginning.

A new #Splatfest has literally just been announced!

It takes place from the 12th of August at 1am BST to the 14th of August at 1am.

What is important in life?

Money vs Fame vs Love

Last time in North America and Oceania, when there was a Love vs Money regional Splatfest in Splatoon 2, Love won, so it's gonna be interesting to see how it goes this time. Also, when this Splatfest aired in Splatoon 1 for Japan only, Love also won after a "close match".

Nintendo recently updated an article from the 10th of August last year which primarily focused around the different online modes in game to talk about a new Tournament Manager feature, which will use the #SplatNet3 app, which will help players create and manage tournaments more easily. This will be arriving in a future update, hopefully the one for next season.

It's a bit weird that they'd add this ngl, meanwhile we still have references to League Battles, which got basically split into Challenge and Anarchy Battle (Open). At 2am BST tomorrow, version 4.1.0 is releasing for Splatoon 3.

Patch notes (NA)

This is the mid season patch, and here are some of the most notable patches I've found:

• Aerospray RG/MG now uses 9% less ink
• Splattershots and N-Zaps have 17% less ink scatter
• Painbrush uses 25% less ink now
• Sprinkler lasts 3 seconds longer
• Angle Shooter damage has increased to 40
• Trizooka explosions now do 60 damage
• Ink Vac radius increased
• Super Chump damage per decoy increased to 70, and the radius has been increased for decoys by 38%. The radius where it deals 35 damage has been increased by 20%.
• Inkjet 50 damage radius decreased (isn't Inkjet one of the least used specials as it is?)

Weapon special meter changes

• Clash Blaster Neo: 180 \> 170
• Carbon Roller: 180 \> 170
• Rapid Blaster Pro Deco: 180 \> 190
• Tri-Slosher Nouveau: 180 \> 190
• Mini Splatling: 180 \> 190
• Ballpoint Splatling: 200 \> 210

Other changes

There's only one other change here. When playing private battles, you'll now be able to join rooms when a battle is in progress if there's a spot available. The new player will be able to participate once the battle ends.
