  • Support for QUIC and HTTP/3 protocols is available since 1.25.0. Also, since 1.25.0, the QUIC and HTTP/3 support is available in Linux binary packages.

    https://nginx.org/en/docs/quic.html

2023-05-23 nginx-1.25.0 mainline version has been released, featuring experimental HTTP/3 support.

It’s not a dev code. It would also take a mere minute to check this before failing to sound smart.

    • USA is not the most diverse country (its ethnic fractionalization index is below that of Moldova - https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/most-racially-diverse-countries or https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_ranked_by_ethnic_and_cultural_diversity_level)
    • Out of listed countries, the only one that exhibits clear signs of ethnonationalism is Russia (although I have to admit to be fairly ignorant on state of things in Argentina)
    • Lumping Russia with its former colonies screams “ignorance”
    • Grabbing a bunch of countries from the oldest trade route and thinking they are gonna be ethnically homogenous echoes the previous scream
    • Me spending time on this post is a clear evidence of procrastination
    • Poland has universal healthcare, walkable cities, affordable intra- and intercity public transportation, and provides free higher education to its citizens
    • Moldova provides free education to its citizens and has universal healthcare
    • Even Russia has a still working universal healthcare (terrible by many standards, but still beats US) and provides higher education to its citizens
    • Argentina has universal healthcare and offers free higher education to it’s citizens
    • Why am I still procrastinating? Send help!

USA is a dominant superpower though.

  • Problem with money is that money only have value when people are willing to exchange money for goods and services.

The moment that exchange stops, value of money plummets.

A very good analogy I saw in Charles Stross’ “Neptune’s brood” is that money is a concrete representation of an abstract debt. Exchange materializes that debt into a trade, which is where valuation happens. I’m pretty sure I just made a lot of economists justifiably angry though

  • Modern CPUs are also extremely efficient at dealing with contiguous data structures. Branch prediction and caching get to shine on them.

Avoiding memory access or helping CPU access it all upfront switches physical domain of computation.

  • Please correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t this allow one to represent virtually any resource as a mail inbox/outbox with access through a generic mail app?

I’m working with a specialized healthcare company right now, and this looks like a way to represent patient treatments data as an intuitive timeline of messages. With a local offline cache in case of outages. Security of local workstations is a weak point of course, but when is it not…

  • Nope, fucking nope.

It was intent that was really hard to doubt. We saw Israel’s financial minister talk about solving the Arab problem of Gaza by reducing the Arab population in an official interview in the first month or so.

And you know what? At that point it doesn’t matter how efficient Israel is at implementing the intent, as genocide is not defined by its efficiency.

  • You’re showing your true imperialistic colors. “Let the empire pillage its colonies” and all that jazz.

NATO was never an issue for Russia, and every time any kind of appeasement is attempted, Russia simply moves the goalposts and whines again.

They did invade multiple countries, they invaded Ukraine twice, but you would rather see them occupy more territories and ruin more lives, as long as you can pretend that occupation by an openly genocidal regime is peace.

  • Sitting drule

    Jump
  • I sit at home and when visiting someone as a guest. No mess, no cover positioning arguments, everyone’s happy for a meager cost of me potentially forgetting that this was supposed to be a quick in’n’out and writing this comment instead of rejoining the boring dystopia outside.

  • White skinned, blonde, blue eyed phenotype occurs in Middle East for ages.

The idea that Jesus couldn’t be white because he was from Palestine is just an extension of a common US racist worldview that makes “muslim” a race and views Middle East as a valid non-white target. It’s nearly as stupid as the idea that Jesus’ skin color matters.

  • In the dark, with the other side obscured (or just broken), you don’t want the blinker to actively prompt you to come to a wrong conclusion.

It’s better to see a blinking light and think “I don’t see enough, gotta slow down” than see a blinking arrow and potentially not even realize it’s a turn signal.

  • Don’t compare someone’s highlight reel to your behind the scenes.

I once convinced someone that they are actually doing a great job by sharing my struggles and showing that they are not an impostor. They now outshine me and will go to even greater heights.

And while that one episode of dealing with burnout and impostor syndrome is a drop in the ocean of their persistence, it’s a great illustration to how misleading comparison to others is.

PS: Also, if you have ADHD, you’re nearsighted in time. That doesn’t only mean “you can’t plan well”, it means “your life looks like a hazy blob, where others see a complex scenery”. And that can be devastating when doing a comparison. Be kind to yourself, be kind to others.
