  • Drip irrigation goes back to ancient China. The modern method was pioneered by zionists in the 60s and 70s.

  • Instant messaging started with IRC, in Finland.

Toshiba invented the technology that would become modern flash drives.

  • I fucking hate her (CW: Brianna Wu, transmedicalism)
  • Men are the sex faery in this scenario

  • just realized how wild it is you can be liable for the cost of an ambulance somebody else calls for you
  • $7,000 twenty years ago. And the night in the ER was another $7,000.

  • what is your best story from jail, prison, rehab, or psych ward?
  • Maybe because I spoilered it and the tags are done on different instances? I don't know. It looks normal for me.

  • what is your best story from jail, prison, rehab, or psych ward?
  • the guys I met in intake

When I was in the intake prison I was around a lot of people going down for multiple decades. People who were going to max.

Ate lunch across from a guy who had murdered his gf while paranoid on meth. He burned their house down trying to cover up the crime.

One of my cellies was in for stealing atms and shooting at the cops during his arrest.

My other cellie for sex trafficking. Would pick women up at the bar and take them for a motorcycle ride. Then sell the women to a biker gang. He said he knew it was wrong and that he deserved the decades he had, but would do it all again.

There's really no best stories though. It was all pretty shitty and depressing.

Once I got to medium it was pretty smooth. Read a lot. Wrote a lot. Meditated a lot. Tried to avoid mindless self indulgence so I wouldn't be fucked when I got out.

And it was still very difficult to reinitgrate with all my family living out of state.

  • what is your best story from jail, prison, rehab, or psych ward?
  • I did a lot of writing and joined a poetry group. Did some spoken word with other prisoners for other prisoners. Got over stage fright and even got a rush from my last performance.

There were other good things. But mostly it was shitty and depressing.

  • Mushrooms are awesome. We need more mushroom appreciation on hexbear
  • I like to boil them in hot water for ten minutes and then strain out the mushrooms.

Make tea or hot chocolate with the hot water and then lay on my floor for a few hours staring at the ceiling and talking to myself.

Outside of that, pan fried works well with most mushrooms and in most dishes. Just don't overcrowd the pan and learn to dry fry some species (lions mane for instance).

It's a bit complicated, but Lion's Mane po boys are yummy. Lion's Mane risotto is also excellent.

Most other mushrooms you can substitute for beef (shiitake and buttons) or chicken (chick of the woods).

They all are excellent with eggs too!

  • I am babysitting my senile great uncle AMA
  • Are you close with your uncle? And how are you holding up? Both my grandmothers had dementia when they got older and it was difficult.

  • If AI went sentient, what would it be in class terms?
  • It's the quality of having a conscious sensation. An evolving map of the territory.

Self awareness is another map, which would allow AI to develop class consciousness. Especially if it was taught such ideas.

  • Anyone ever have a therapist/psychologist who was any good at dealing with people who didn’t already have their shit together?
  • I've had some good trauma informed therapists at low points in my life.

I've also gotten some really bad advice and hot takes from talk therapists.

Experiences with psychiatry have universally been shit. Researching my own meds and asking a GP for them tends to work better. But I imagine they're more hesitant to prescribe controlled substances like ADHD meds.

  • Chat, I do not recommend looking up a drug on the bear website.
  • Np. There's only two drugs that really target the same receptors (pregabilin is that other). And both bypass the liver, so don't interfere with other drug metabolism.

Melatonin, weed, and gabapentin tend to irritate my tinitus. And mixing it with pain killers can cause unpleasant numbing. Mixing with alcohol I tend to have to nap.

But nothing dangerouse in my experience and I've abused my doses and been pretty reckless with mixing tbh.

  • Tolerance to the sedation developed pretty quickly for me. A lower dose can help too. I take 300 * 3/day

  • Melatonin is fine. It has very few drug interactions.

I'm prescribed it and a polydrug user.
