Workstation Rehaul (Advice Needed)
  • I haven't used this in many years so I can't vouch for the current state, but I've used synergy to share the same mouse and keyboard across multiple computers. I think this should enable your 4 monitor dream - 2 externals and two laptops.

You'll also likely run into a situation where a single laptop can't drive 4 monitors - keep that in mind.

EDIT: I don't know why you're targeting 3 laptops in the future, but I would heavily suggest looking at framework laptops. They're upgradeable, modular laptops where you can buy new motherboards to upgrade. Once you do upgrade, you can actually use the old Mobo as a desktop machine.

  • Y'all gotta try some Korean spas, they have them even in the US.

Those are super relaxing and luxurious.

First you shower, then you get REALLY clean by exfoliating your entire outer carapace, or paying someone to do it. You're not properly exfoliated until you have flecks of your dead skin flying off.

Then you take a nice hot soak in a series of increasingly warmer hot baths.

Finish it off with a plunge in cold water.

Yes, there are other folks of the same gender. Nobody really cares, you just do your own thing.

Walk out to the lobby, hang out with friends and eat some freshly made Korean comfort food, feeling like a new person.

My friend took me to one after a long day at a theme park, and it's changed everything, and now Korean spas are mandatory after each theme park. Instead of ending the day tired and sore, you're relaxed, and generally feel rejuvenated. Ending the night quietly enjoying some snacks with friends feeling the cleanest you've ever felt, in a place designed to make you feel warm, comfortable, and safe, is incredible.

  • What are your favorite shows and why?
  • Yup, a lot of great shows are being thrown around, but a good place captures everything you want - growing friendships and relationships, unravelling weirdness, and being a part of the team.

  • If elected as U.S. President, Donald Trump promises to mass-deport non-U.S. citizens based on their “serial number"
  • Pretty naive take to pretend like the court is independent of politics, especially these days. "It wasn't the politicians that did that, it was the people the politicians chose who voted down political lines".

You're proposing that migration will continue to escalate because their labor needs to be leveraged.

Trump is saying he'll deport immigrants that they know everything about.

The two are easy to reconcile -it'll be typical Republican theater of making illegal immigrants lives miserable while paying them under the table to take advantage of their labor.

  • What are the best fictional books you’ve ever read?
  • I've only read Ted Chiang's exhalation, but one of the stories was the biggest thinker I've seen, and another was an emotional gut punch (in a good way)

The ratio of lasting impact to content length of his short stories is insane. He has no business having such compelling works being readable in a lunch break.

  • What are the best fictional books you’ve ever read?
  • Another vote for Pratchett! I'm an economics fan, and making money happened to be my introduction, but there are far more common onramps.

My personal suggestion for getting a feel of Pratchett's writing these days is monstrous regiment - technically in the discworld series, but it's very standalone, so you get the flavor of the writing with little of the need for additional context.
