@halm@leminal.space Diaspora only federates with Friendica (because the latter has diaspora protocol support). Friendica doesn't have its "own protocol", it uses ActivityPub with its own proprietary extensions IIRC.
@lemann@lemmy.dbzer0.com Diaspora don't speak the same language either yet we consider it part of the fedi. It's one of the OGs that refused to adopt ActivityPub.
