Yup, it was layoffs today. Thankfully I survived them. Apparently we're losing contracts because of the trump admin cancelling shit.

At work, spent 4 days doing a major refactor to fix a long standing bad design in our db, touching ~50 files in c# and typescript. Surprisingly all worked right away on my first test, with just a few minor bugs.

Then spent all day today applying that refactor to optimize a webpage that originally needed 20mb of data to load, to around 800kb. God I love this shit, I live for it. I love my job lol

I bought a new Xbox One controller, which connects via usb-c. But for some reason, it only works when the usb cable is plugged in on one orientation, not the other. In my case, its usb cable label-side up. Super weird lol

its intentional, because the markdown renderer generates the html directly. We had a script injection vuln because of it in the earlier days after the migration.

if a local emoji is found, it uses the data associates with the local emoji, not necessarily the data thats stored in the markdown. There's probably a better way to handle it nowadays, but haven't had a look at it in a while.

i really wish it was a smaller release cause holy hell they do not have nearly enough content to fit all they stretched it out to be.
