Laziness Does Not Exist
  • I just need time to go 10% as fast as it's going now...

  • It's time to mentally prepare yourselves for this
  • I think it's time for a refactor of my legacy code that deals with infinite timezones. :/

  • Unexpected surprise
  • The picture apparently is from a 1916 book, when 'imbecile' was still a diagnosis ...but that's still odd.

  • What do you use Waydroid for?
  • Yep, waydroid init -s GAPPS. But it will complain when first trying to sign in with Google so you'll have to authorize the device.

  • feeling attacked rule
  • Beautiful reasons but there's an easier one... we don't want our flags to be straight (I only ironed my trans flag).

  • A Brief Review of the Minisforum V3 AMD Tablet
  • That looks like such a cool device! I've been wondering what to replace my 2017 macbook with in the next few years and it's nice to see more options to consider. Maybe it won't be a refurbished ThinkPad.

  • What's inside the London Tower Bridge?
  • I only know this because there's a mission in Watch Dogs Legion that's inside it.

  • Germany passes landmark self-ID law: 'trans people exist and deserve recognition'
  • The other is that apparently when transitioning you have to change your name, which shouldn't be necessary for those with gender neutral names that they'd prefer to keep.

I think you can keep it now if it's gender neutral! But I still think it shouldn't be any of their business to judge whether your name matches your gender identity, it's pretty personal.

  • I'm old, Gandalf. I know I don't look it, but I'm beginning to feel it in my heart.
  • Good friends use Revanced patches to download tiktoks before sending them. Might even put it through ffmpeg to remove the music if it's annoying.

  • Capitalism says keep working!
  • "Journalism" is just rage bait now, they know exactly what they're doing with this headline and it pisses me off ... which is ironic.

  • Say No Say Yes To Drugs To Pizza
  • Focus on the lower foot and try to make it switch and everything else will switch too, way easier than trying for the whole thing.

  • Quest 1 becomes near-E-waste Apr 30
  • For Monado on Windows iirc the current state is that it works but not with real hardware (which is usually well supported officially anyway) due to lack of drivers. Now if it becomes the only platform to keep supporting WMR the developer incentive is definitely there.

  • Who played on linux before proton?
  • I liked playing osu! on Linux through Wine since it offered much lower audio and input latency than you could achieve on Windows. Minecraft has also always been a safe bet on Linux (unless you enabled shaders, then it just turned into a visual abomination for just about every shaderpack).

Generally OpenGL games weren't too bad, DirectX however... the biggest change here was DXVK rather than Proton.

Never thought we'd get to where we are now.

  • Now my arch is bloated more than the default ubuntu
  • Instructions unclear, installed sway and 50 utilities for it.

  • We need to get you in the air

  • So basically, covid happened and rebecca black returned as a queer icon with a friday hyperpop remix.

  • We're here! We fuck! We're queer! Shit up!
  • Now I wanna get into the trek part since I'm already queer and on Lemmy.

  • Open source in books at school in India
  • As someone coming from Photoshop it's really hard to get into Gimp with it missing the layer effects you'd expect, which you all have in Krita.

  • I can't use AMD
  • 7900 GRE is officially supported too which seems like a great <$600 option on the market right now.

  • How do we know the universe outside our solar system truly exists?

This is something that has been bothering me for a while as I'm diving through space articles, documentaries etc. All seem to take our observations for granted, which are based on the data of the entire observable universe (light, waves, radiation...) we receive at our, in comparison, tiny speck. How do we know we are interpreting all this correctly with just the research we've done in our own solar system and we're not completely wrong about everything outside of it?

This never seems to be addressed so maybe I'm having a fundamental flaw in my thought process.

Firefox Android forks running at 60 Hz

I've tried several forks of mobile Firefox over the months and they all (Mull, Fennec, Iceraven) suffered from the same issue of running at 60 Hz while the regular app runs at the native 120. This makes it feel very sluggish especially in comparison to every other app and has kept me on the official app.

I've wondered if other people had the same issue or if it's related to my phone (Nothing Phone 1), and if there's a potential fix.

Tumblr on the Fediverse, what happened to that?

With the current reddit migration happening I've remembered when Tumblr promised they were gonna add support for ActivityPub "ASAP".

    !

    (source: https://nitter.net/photomatt/status/1594587024245260289)

Does someone happen to know if there's any news on that? I'm wondering if this was just said in an attempt to stay relevant and lure in Twitter users or if they're actually putting effort into fulfilling their promise.

Additionally, what is your opinion on having closed source platforms on the Fediverse? Would you block them?
