People Hate the Idea of Car-Free Cities—Until They Live in One
  • Yeah, I hate the term "car-free". That said, even for someone who primarily uses a car, advocating for bike lanes and public transit makes sense, as the fewer people there are taking up road space and parking, the easier it is for you to drive / park.

  • Apple watch rule
  • It's a variant of the sarcastic "that couldn't be me"

e.g.: "Goofing off for a week and then cramming the night before the final exam? That couldn't be me /s." -> "Not me goofing off for a week and then cramming the night before"

  • Rant: Valve's new Steam Deck screws speak volumes about their ethos.
  • Steam is an infinite money generator, yes, but any publicly owned company would have fucked it up for short term profits. Valve absolutely has its problems, but its focus on the long term and respecting its customers means it can make infinite money and do stuff like this.

  • Electorialism (tempted to vote biden)
  • You can set up for the rebellion and vote. It's not one or the other. Coalition build, do direct action, set up for a general strike... And take 30 minutes out of that to vote for someone who'll make it easier to do praxis, coalition building, etc. (not easy, but easier)
