Lawmakers want to know why there are fewer LGBTQ+ homeowners than straight: 'Concerning disparities'
  • It's like 40% in those under 18 because of social pressures from the LGBTQ community. And less than 1% in those over like...50 or something...

It's because they're represented far greater than is proportional for their community.

Like, you'll never see a dark black person on TV, or almost any Asian people. But guaranteed there will be a VERY light skinned black person, and someone who's gay at the very least. Almost never any hispanic people in our television either.

  • Any MythTV Users Here?
  • I used to use MythTV back in the analog TV days. It's much easier to use when you have proper cable channels. I couldn't be bothered to pay >$140/mo for Cable TV any longer.

So now I just pay $60 for internet, and pirate everything I wanna watch with Sonarr/Radarr/Jellyfin/Jackett/Qbittorrent and a $2/mo VPN from Windscribe.

Honestly, with YouTube experimenting with 'inline' commercials, I think MythTV is going to make a comeback; because the big thing MythTV had going for it, was detecting commercials and removing them from the recordings.

Biden Administration Opposes Surgery for Transgender Minors
  • If someone was born with a chromosomal defect, or something that has left them in a state of not being quite a man, or not quite a woman, I think they should be allowed to elect to be whatever sex they want to present as. These are the people who need these kinds of protections.

If Gender doesn't equal Sex, then we shouldn't be using surgery to change people's sex. You can be whatever gender you want in the body you've got; and society should just simply learn to deal with it. There should not be a crowd of people trying to convince others that they need to change their body to "fit" the gender they want to be.

Let's stop conflating Gender with Sex, and using these pseudo-scientific quacks to change people's bodies on a whim. That goes for cosmetic surgery too, in my honest opinion.

  • G.W.Bush looks like an absolute genius compared to the shit we have today. That said, I can see why it would be easy to see Obama as one of the best, because man we're striking out...we haven't seen a non-clown contender in a while.

  • History repeats itself.
  • The problem with this infographic is that they aren't depicting the size of the trucks in proportion. That 37%er is probably 3x as large as the 64%er (the whole truck itself)

  • My laptop hinge just ripped its screws right out.
  • Honestly, this looks like it would be repairable with the appropriate sized heat-press insert, and a longer screw. Granted, things are pretty tight in that area; but it looks like there is enough beef left on the underside to repair this 'properly'.

  • anyone had luck with these fly-by night cell carriers?
  • Yeah, they're fine. I use RedPocket for my daughters phone because it's like $120 for a whole year of phone service. They're often better than the 'pure' networks because they can fall back to AT&T when T-Mobile is down, etc. Often times they aren't only on a single network. Hell, Mint was doing so well that T-Mobile ended up buying them (probably to dissolve them, honestly)

  • If you don't work IT, retail, or food service what do you do for work?
  • PETG just is a pain in the ass sometimes. Really sensitive to moisture, and it loves to stick to hot metal. So it has a tendency to overextrude because of the steam, and bunch up on the nozzle, causing all sorts of havok.

The key to printing it is just keeping it dry -- the latest batches I've held feel like they're way softer than I remember, so I suspect mfgs are putting more glycol in it than before.

Also, do a sanity check and go back and print PLA from time to time. Sometimes you won't realize something else is wrong and you'll blame it on the filament, but something like the idler arm on the extruder is broken, etc.

You can print it on Textured PEI, or Glass - but I suggest putting a little glue stick down to act as a release agent on the PEI - PETG and PEI bond together too well in some instances (ESPECIALLY on smooth PEI)

    Who asked fallacy
  • I'll appeal to whatever I think is gonna keep your ass alive.

I'm going to tell you that people who try to commit suicide often end up unable to use their own facilities, and wind up trapped in a wheelchair unable to move or talk or care for themselves - so even if they still want to kill themselves, they're trapped forever in hell until they die of old age instead. (Appeal to the chance you'll fuck up)

I'm going to tell you of all the people you will hurt, and all the things that will suffer when you're gone. (Appeal to Emotion, Appeal to disappointing others, etc)

I'm going to tell you that you're loved, I'm going to try to stop you. Life is a wonderful, fantastical lottery that you've somehow managed to win, and I'm not going to let you throw it away. (Threats if I have to...)

I will use every fallacy in the book to try and keep you here with us. Alive.

  • [Repair] Creality K1 Max, and it being shipped with a different variant. A post in case anyone runs into this in the wild.

So I run a repair shop in Altamonte Springs, FL - Got a weird one that searching the internet only turned up 1 other instance of it happening, so I wanted to post some details on the repair in case someone else runs into it or in case Creality doesn't admit that it's a thing.

Creality K1 Max - Symptoms: Unable to finish initial calibration. X and Y Axis moving twice as far as commanded, auto leveling absolutely destroying the build plate.

Initial steps in fixing this were to replace the main board. Creality shipped some of these printers with some interference around the main board which could have screwed up the drivers. Many references to this across the internet.

After replacing the main board, it still would not get past the input shaping setup, so the next thing to replace was the toolhead board on the K1. It seems the accelerometer on this one was either A: Damaged by the customer in their attempts to fix, or B: Faulty from the get-go.

After replacing the toolhead board, the machine would get past the initial input shaping, but it would do it in the back left corner of the machine (from experience, this should be done in the center of the plate). So upon homing, I also noticed that it wouldn't regularly go all the way to the front right of the machine. When commanded to go X negative, 10mm, it would go like 24mm instead.

In the end, I needed to: Replace mainboard, Replace toolhead board, let the machine crash into it self for 20+ minutes while going through Auto-leveling on the initial power on stage, connect it to your network, upgrade the firmware, DO NOT HEED the warning that you need to auto-calibrate again.

Follow this guide to root it: https://guilouz.github.io/Creality-Helper-Script-Wiki/helper-script/helper-script-installation/

THEN, after it's rooted, install Moonraker/Nginx, Moonraker or Fluidd, then connect to one of those interfaces, edit your printer.cfg and change rotation distance to 72 for this variation of machine.

If you notice that the sensorless homing is not acting perfectly due to the different step-size of this machine, driver_SGTHRS: 55 is the configuration option you're looking for, and you need to set it on both X and Y. 55 worked for me, but the default is 75. 0 is least sensitive, 255 is most sensitive. I had to set mine to be less sensitive to finally work.

Once you've made these changes, you can save/reboot and test out homing/movement once again. If everything seems okay, go ahead and run the self-test to complete the repair.
