Nope! Plasma has a nice settings page dedicated to to this power related configuration, so you click exactly what you want to happen and forget about it. I configured plasma to work almost identically to gnome with the overview and gestures and it is so snappy. Still hope that the gnome devs work out a way to make these options more accessible, but even if they added those there’s no way I’d switch back now!

It may seem silly but I switched to KDE plasma becaus of this feature. In my humble opinion as a sysadmin, a modern desktop PC in 2024 should not need the user to query config values for power settings!

Until some open standards are made for car computerization, it will continue to be used as a tool to keep you as a consumer dependent on the company’s good will and certified technicians. I ended up figuring out how to do mine myself with a Mr Cool kit when the furnace died due to the fact that every hvac guy believed a 4th gen heat pump would be useless in the northeast us. It gets down to about 0F here once or twice a winter and the heat pump starts struggling to keep up around those temps but it still does its job.

One more possible solution would be a buggy c-state setting on the motherboard. I have an x570 amd board that would do this until I disabled cstates in bios. See now that sounds expensive again to me… my wife is a fake vegan of sorts, aka no meat, no dairy except lactose free cheese, but WILL eat eggs, and when I try shopping for her I struggle to find food that would allow her to consistently eat 78-80 grams of protein a day without paying quite a lot for gluten based protein products or tofu. Nuts can only be bought in smaller quantities as well, due to how expensive they end up being. It also seems that all those other complete amino acid foods have high levels of carbs, how do you offset that without simply being overly active every day? I keep reading more about it and cant find anything helpful online that incorporates a steady diet that will supplement a physical gym routine including a lot of lifting with the desire for muscle growth. Maybe im just a weird minority here, IDK :(

what are you using as a hypervisor? if it is virtualbox you will struggle to get smooth video playback, its gpu support is very poor. vmware is much better. yes yes it is proprietary but so is virtualbox with extensions which is the only way to make it kinda usable lol
