But in short UK was very much a US geopolitical rival up until WW2. Britain lost its geopolitical status as a result of the WW2 and was heavily indebted and had no choice but to dismantle the empire. So Canada and so is Mexico - up to this point they are not in the position to threaten us. They are carefully watched as well, not allowed to build up the military, not I think they are in that position.

Russia is a lot more flexible than Israel with Palestinians or Americans with Iraqis.

Russia sees Ukrainians as their own people and give them Russian citizenship, resettle away from warzone and provide social services like pensions and medical and all the rights.

They never really cared to meddle with Ukraine language or culture, so most of the way of life is really unaffected no matter the ruling party.

Imo this war is completely dumb and zelensky should have avoided it.

They made a conscious decision to bankrupt it when they elected to lay sanction on Russia. No more cheap energy = cars can't compete = German metallurgy and car manufacturing are dead now.

Sure they can put up sanctions on China cars, but it won't matter as china will sell worldwide in a much larger market. Own eu/us market is too small for manufacturers to shelter there.

My Russia vs Israel take:

Russia gives Ukrainians Russian citizenship and resettles them away from warzone with all the social security preserved: food, medical, shelter etc.

Israel just wants to murder all Palestinians: no medical, bombs hospitals, doesn't let food in, kills people indiscriminately
