  • We're arguing on the assumption that living in western europe isnt "rich". Even the people living from state welfare with running water are better off then 50% of the planet because they even have clean water.

Notch btw started as a programmer at the age of 18 (wikipedia) and lived in sweden, one of the richest countries in the world. Having the time to learn programming at that age is already a sign of (white) privilege.

There. Is. No. Self. Made. Wealth. Period.

That on the other hand is not saying that notch wasnt successful, he undeniably was. But he is an unethical prick for keeping the money and engaging in debauchery. He does not deserve praise, neither does any rich person. You know who deserves praise? Dr. Ernesto "che" guevara does.

  • Not inherited is also wrong. Because more than 50% of americans live paycheck to paycheck, one can assume that private schools, elite universities, etc are also inherited wealth.

They dont spawn with billions but they started at the top and just built exploitation empires.

The is no such thing as self made wealth and an insane majprity of it is already being very comfortable and just going full bore.

I'm not saying financial success has nothing to do with capabilities and discipline but surprisingly little.

Or to quote jay gould, who said it before:

I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein’s brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

  • Your comment would have made just as much sense without the condescending first sentence. I would have apologized and thanked you for correcting me.

But you chose to be a dick.

    Have a nice day.

  • Oh interesting! What do you use for that and what is the result? Flac or other?

  • Whats EAC again? I'm always eager to learn what possible show stoppers exist for people.

  • I think the word you are searching for is accomplice. Every state in the world is an accomplice to this genocide. And every state who delivered weapons to fuel this should immediately hand over their heads of state in that period to den haag for genocide support an imprisonment.

  • Dass sich maja seit der auslieferung in einzelhaft befindet haben sie ganz vergessen zu erwähnen... Hm, bestimmt nicht so schlimm /s

  • Yeah, I didnt think you would be able to defend against any of it.

But since you're still being condescending, this conversation is now over.

I will check the stuff you mentioned because, unlike you, I have no issue with being corrected.

Good luck with your attitude mate.

  • And thats what I meant.

Respect means you acknowledge my arguments. Just backing off on the insults a bit (but not fully) isnt cutting it. Respectful discussion is addressing people's arguments as well as not insulting them or their intelligence.

I will definitely take the time and check things that are brought forward. Saying "just because shit was bad back then means exactly that, not that the system it was in was shit." isnt the same as sticking fingers in ones ears and singing lalala. Doing as if that were the case is just abusive rhetoric.

Because shit is horrendous today as well: Fentanyl hordes, people freezing to death on the streets, protesters shot, people deported to concentration camps, genocide, media spewing propaganda, most of the population living paycheck to paycheck, guantanamo. Most of the examples are US but the EU is only marginally different and catching up fast.

There is no such thing as a perfect system. Gulags alone are no sole cause for dismissal same as guantanamo is.

Here's a video about the reason why people hate socialism so much https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mhYS59egWQc

  • Even if i dont check and just believe what you wrote, it still beats the shit out of the situation a ton of us are in right now (also that was literally 34+ yrs ago. Life was different then AND the country was recovering from tons of shit). Not to speak of the countries that make our ill gotten comfort possible too. And just to clarify, present day russia is not communist or socialist. they're as capitalist as the western states are. They are no better and no worse in terms of inequality.

The important part, will you have a respectful discussion or do I have to block you?

  • I'm sorry that you have to insult me like that. There are many ways to train healthy discussion habits.

  • Absolutely correct. Thats why I said one could improve on it.

  • Wow. You're showing very civilized behavior. Maybe i should rethink my stance. :D

  • What you're doing is called a "thought stopper" or "conversation stopper". It is used in propaganda for hundreds of years.

  • And there it is again. Dont you ever wonder why they had a constitution like this but treated their people like this. Do you have a window in your room? Can you check what happens to enemies of the state where you live? What happens again if you become disabled in our "civilized" societies?

have you ever wondered if you're being fed bullshit?

  • I will always be hated for this but fascism is necessary. It is the whip of the owning class. As long as you have capitalism, you have fascism.

In more detail if you wish:

Normal society: Person make chair, person sell chair, person eat

Thats the "natural" way of things.

Capitalism: Person make chair, person get tiny cut of chair because [mArKeTiNg cOsT, responsibility, land ownership and other bogus excuses], person eat less, capitalist eat more.

People dont really accept this because it is not natural or fair. Therefore you need a couple of things, depending on the stage of capitalism:

the carrot (you will have your own house! you will buy cool things! you can be rich!)

the veil (propaganda, telling you why it is the only thing that works, why you just need to comply, because compliance will be rewarded...)

the stick (a militarized police force that will shoot you if you dont comply)

As you can see, all western states are currently going down the "military disguised as police" route. Why do you think that is? It is because the capitalists want more yachts.

And after 100 years of propaganda, we actually believe there never has been a better system.

    Have a great day.

  • Die geheimpolizei des inlandskapitals zu bestrafen kann sinn machen, ist aber dort unbeliebt. Deswegen läuft das oft schief. ;)

  • Exactly. On top, we have this everywhere not only in media. Cost of living is insane and we are used to barely existing service for all the money we pay.

But dont dare to make an app that doesnt do the "swoosh", "shaky screen" or otherwise isnt "polished" enough. Its "Go corpo or go home."

I wonder if there is any solution? When will we have extracted enough profit? Should we do 16 hr work days? Maybe then corporate overlords will be happy?

  • Someone gets it.

    Lets instead do this:

Every citizen, irrespective of their nationality, skincolor, gender has the right to:

    • living quarters
    • work
    • maximum of 7 hours of work
    • free healthcare
    • paid vacation
    • equal pay and treatment for women
    • freedom of religion and speech

This is directly taken from a 1936 constitution. Today one could improve on it but we're so much worse, everywhere.

    Now guess which one.

    Go check if you dare
