Vinegar
  • The vinegar situation where I am atm has kind of made me more depressed? Some of it is straight up ass, and the salt & vinegar chips have been pretty terrible across the board. I love vinegar, too, so I'm very sad. Maybe the vinegar has to taste good to work.

  • New Email Scam Includes Pictures of Your House. Don’t Fall For It.
  • My mom and I have talked about that kind of thing and she knows to call me directly if someone ever tries to say something happened to me. She's not stupid, but maybe just not growing up with people constantly trying to scam her at every turn hasn't prepared her for the depths these assholes will sink to, and they've gotten so much more sophisticated.

  • New Email Scam Includes Pictures of Your House. Don’t Fall For It.
  • I keep kind of hoping I get this one. I'm ace, so I definitely haven't been watching porn of any kind, and my house has changed dramatically since the last time google came by, so it would just be entertaining. But then I see people on nextdoor all freaked out that "someone has pictures of their house," and it makes me wish for a large, extremely targeted sinkhole to open up under all these scammers.

  • What's your take on having romantic relationships with single parents?
  • I don't have kids, but I've dated a few people with kids and my ex-husband had a child. From that perspective, my question is always are you willing to be a step parent? If yes, go for it. If not, stay away. Even if you think it'll be something casual, there's always the possibility feelings will develop beyond that, and having to break up with someone you really love because you don't want to be a parent sucks a lot more than just saying no on the first place.

The other thing to consider is whether the other parent is still around. My ex's first wife suuuucked. They co-parented relatively well considering how their marriage ended, but she was also a hypocritical bigot (born-again christian, shocker), which caused some friction when my stepkid was being taught things like, "we hate this person because they're gay." But like it or not, she was going to be around, so I had to account for that in my decision to get serious with him.

  • What's the trick to Menopause?
  • My coworker had a full hysterectomy in her late 30s for the same reason and she's described it as basically a living hell for about a year. Just a complete nightmare where she felt like her body completely turned on her and she had no control over anything it was doing - hearing about it made my attitude about keeping my ovaries much more enthusiastic. BUT she was pretty much fully through menopause after that year, so the good news is that your wife's situation is likely pretty temporary. The bad news is that a year can feel like much longer when things aren't going well, and I'm guessing she can't do any hormone replacement to ease her symptoms because of the cancer risk. I did keep my ovaries and I'm still having some hormonal nonsense (pseudo hot flashes are not making me real optimistic about the real thing, let me tell you), so I can only imagine how much that sucks.

The thing is, you're probably not actually doing anything wrong, it's just a total tsunami of fuckery in her body atm that's making her feel that way. I would suggest marriage counseling, because it's possible that a neutral third party can help your wife see that, even though she's not totally in control of her body or feelings right now, she still doesn't get to make you feel like shit and she might end up destroying a relationship she still wants once she's past this stage. There's no easy solution, though, it's just everyone putting their heads down and pushing through it, unfortunately.

  • How serious are you guys when you talk about punching nazis?
  • I'm not big on violence, and I don't enjoy hitting people, but I've done it a couple of times and I'm always willing to throw down with nazis. If we're not willing to defend ourselves and others, we might as well just hand them the keys and let them do whatever they want. That's gonna be a hard no for me.

  • The dark arts
  • I mean, if there's a fully functional way to order online, why would you call? I just prefer a phone call when something would take paragraphs to explain or if there really isn't an easy way to do something via a website/email.

  • The dark arts
  • My coworker spent 30 minutes trying to find another way to contact a vendor after I told her the easiest way to order the thing she needed was just to call and it would take 2 minutes. I hate calling too, but that's just dumb. Or maybe I just like efficiency more than I hate the phone.

  • If you don't want EVERYONE to participate in your community, then you should really make it private.
  • Oh I don't feel like I need to be welcoming to people who have no intention of listening and are just there to be dicks. I just don't want to push away anyone who might be open to the idea of changing their diet by immediately telling them what a terrible person they are for not doing it already. It's important to me not just to reduce the harm I do, but to try to minimize it elsewhere if I can.

  • Foods that don't have to be refrigerated/heated?

I'm going to a conference next week and while they asked everyone for dietary preferences, I don't have high hopes based on experience (sure, I'd love another "salad" that's just iceberg with no dressing!), so I'm trying to plan ahead and bring some things with me so I don't starve. Unfortunately, the hotel room doesn't have a microwave, just a mini-mini-fridge and I'm bringing my small kettle, so I mostly have to stick to things that can be stored/eaten at room temp, or prepared with just hot water. So far, I have some soy curl jerky to take to long sessions, a couple of ramen bowls, and some bread and packets of almond butter, but I'm kind of out of ideas. There is a Trader Joe's within walking distance, so I can at least grab some fruit or salad when I get a chance, but is there anything else I'm not thinking of that I should pack and/or plan to buy? The conference is a full week, so I'd prefer not to eat crap (like the ramen) the whole time if I can help it.

This is somehow one of his saner posts

This guy has been running for local office and losing every election cycle for years. His latest thing is that he is a victim the same way George Floyd was because DEI has made it hard to be a white man, I guess?

For the record, his "wife" literally left the country over a decade ago and I think his son has also moved to her country. The last picture he has with them is easily 15 years ago, so I don't think they really give a shit if anyone votes for him. Oh, also, they're Asian so he regularly refers to himself as a "person/father of color."

    How to choose a model?

I don't do much handheld gaming, but I'm going to have some overseas flights and long-ish train rides later this year, and may also be having surgery that will keep me fairly bedbound for about a month. I'm just not sure how much money it's worth spending on a deck that I likely won't use much outside of those specific cases - I bought a switch when I got covid in 2020 and used it a ton at the time but I've only used it a few times since, though I miiight use a deck a bit more just because I already have a pretty extensive steam library.

Is it better to stick to the cheapest model or is there enough of a difference that it might be worth spending a little more for a nicer one?

    Getting wild on NYE

This is one of the first kits I got really excited about and I finally grabbed it on Black Friday. I've never done buttonhole stitch and it's a lot of fun now that I have the hang of it. It's a party at my house, as you can see.

Yeah, definitely don't put any of those profits toward a living wage though. Make your employees trauma dump for the chance at a few extra bucks! Probably comes as an Amazon gift card, too.

    Considering calling this one finished

I don't know how to cross stitch (and did absolutely zero research before starting this kit), but this is a mood, especially after I realized I miscounted and put the s one space off and now have to pull it back out.

Well...mostly. I need to fill in a couple of gaps on the bear, but I lost my mind and decided to try to finish a whole new pattern by 10/1 so I'll have to worry about that later. I'm overall really happy with how both came out. I can see mistakes up close, but I think from a distance, they're both nice. Also, this was before ironing both, please disregard any wonky satin stitch - the thread moves when I wash off the pattern.
