The real reason suburbs were built for cars
  • exactly, not everyone has time to stop everything and watch a random 20 minute video from a thread based on essentially "trust me bro"

especially with a vague and borderline clickbait title. To prove a point, I'm going to watch it at some point and I can almost guarantee i can either summarise it or provide a synopsis.

  • VPN by Google One shuts down
  • There was a time when the Google apps just worked, the applications were optimised for UX. Maybe I've just only noticed it now but the directions (and assistant in general) aren't as useful, reliable, and filled with sponsored stuff.

what do you use for navigation and how does it compare?

  • We'll be less activist if you be less shit
  • From what I can tell, this was a climate change protest in response to the 2020 bushfires in Aus. Looks likes that's scomo's face on the sign but could be wildly wrong.

    edit: sorry wrong year

  • me_irl
  • Only started running relatively recently so it's not first thing in the morning but it's a habit. I needed a way to "warm up" for the day and be physically active.

Aside from the general hype of "it feels great" "healthy" yada yada, it gets to a point where you feel uneasy not running. Like after training my legs, they want to go for a run and be used.

You need to account for having time (sleeping early and getting up early with naps during the day) and slowly conditioning but the most important thing is consistency. Only evaluating based on your previous efforts rather than comparing to others.

  • World's first wooden satellite built by Japan researchers
  • From the article.

The creators expect the wooden material will burn up completely when the device re-enters the atmosphere—potentially providing a way to avoid the generation of metal particles when a retired satellite returns to Earth.

These metal particles could have a negative impact on the environment and telecommunications, the developers said as they announced the satellite's completion on Tuesday.

  • The planned PSN requirement has been canceled!
  • Years of cynicism got jumped by this announcement. Alongside with the community feedback, gotta give kudos to Arrowhead for dragging their feet with Sony instead of mindlessly becoming their sockpuppet and prioritise community goodwill.

Team effort where I trust the devs and be far more wary of Sony.

  • please enjoy
  • then what's stopping people from just going/staying on reddit?

Content isn't an issue, the internet is filled with AI generators and bots. Meaningful content and engaged communities are what we should be encouraging.

Reposts and directly referencing reddit is counter to that imo but I appreciate the intent.

*Should clarify i have no problem with reposts but diaagreed we have a "content problem" but more an activitg issue/opportunity to make a unique fediverse-lemmy internet culture and copy-pasting reddit is not the way to go.

  • Everything is Statistics
  • anyone who was planning to not even understand, let alone use, statistics in psych of all disciplines should seek a different vocation.

It's literally the only way to make sense and genuine progress, especially compared to those 20th century old rich dudes who were high af, used anecdotes, derived causal effect from correlations, and made "findings" that reinforced their own biases and beliefs.

Do everything right, and the number's won't lie to you. It's never wrong, it's just unexplained.

  • it tastes better when you cut it into triangles and it sounds better as an AMV
  • It is wild that this post about a harmless abbreviation that refers to cringey (but endearing to me) narrow slice of early-mid 2000s internet culture got this reaction out of you. Something that could be ignored or looked up.

Be it Lemmy or the communities you stumble upon, but perhaps some introspection about how you respond and interact with the internet could use a revisit.
