    Some of the figures also on the statue include a Black woman depicted as “Mammy” holding what is said to be the child of a white officer, and an enslaved man following his owner to war.

  • The folks itching to repeat it are the same folks who have hooked their "heritage" on a traitorous nation that lasted less time than some of my underwear and socks.

    I don't think removing these monuments to traitors from US soil is going to make much of a difference to them.

    Also - monuments aren't history books, and the folks trying to get sensitive events out of history books are also the same group of people trying to keep the monuments to traitors in place.

    If they wanted the Satanic Temple to go away, the best thing to do would be ignore it. As I understand it, much of its mission would be done, then.

    Instead it's like this constant slow-roll Streisand Effect - we keep seeing them win against these idiots, either legally or by making their opponents look like dumbasses. Sometimes both.

  • Our legal system has historically been often leveraged disproportionately against black folks. That may or may not be the case here, but perhaps the author thinks so.

  • I agree, but that changes nothing about why maga is upset, and I'm quite sure concern that their plans for a Republican dictatorship might be further threatened is a big component of why.
