Are you suggesting users posting the same suggestive pic/gif to 20 subs are providing meaningful content?
Promo-content easily suffocates real OC.
I mean it’s quite naive if you thought that they weren’t trying to profit off of you before the whole paid API debacle.
Not saying you didn’t, but we clearly valued things differently.
The long term loss of me leaving the platform is much bigger than the short term loss of me deleting my comments.
And lives. When your clothes gets tangled. Also, some farmers doesn’t want to walk around or climb through the tractor and climbs/jumps over the PTO. This usually goes fine for a while, but once every blue moon it catches a pant leg and you’re one farmer less.
Reminds me of a new story about 15-20 years ago.
Some girl with long hair had gotten her hair pulled into the axle of a gokart. It got such a good grip that it peeled her scalp back from underneath her helmet…
To be fair, it’s their prerogative. I left Reddit in protest of how they were using that prerogative, but I left my account open and comments undeleted for the people who might need it later.
At the time, trying to suggest that you can do these two things in that manner was not a popular opinion and as such received massive downvotes.
Mind you this is my lemmy-verse alt account, so no meaningful clues as to what I can contribute is found here.
Wasn’t very active though.
Don’t know if this would make the experience better for everyone, but one could imagine OF workers having a tag on their profile and this being a global filter for the entire lemmy-instance, but with possibility to set overrides for subreddits - both on a subreddit level (mods), and a user subscribed to a subreddit level (user).
This should ideally be implemented so that it’s a generic part of lemmy everywhere, as it would likely be useful for other instances too.
Then the instance admins could define the allowed tags and filters.
Standing out in the crowd of “self-empowered” sex-workers/porn stars trying to fight the algorithm’s appetite for new things probably isn’t the easiest thing in the world.
My hope is that the influx created by OnlyFans and its clones will help normalize sex work into a state where no-one bats an eye if someone posted themselves online to make a living when they were young and fit.
Reality is still that a lot of people prey upon this kind of thing and past life choices can ruin future careers.
/u/yay@lemmynsfw.com don’t know if you guys still support the voyager instance, but updates have been broken for at least around a week and if go to the voyager.lemmynsfw.com url Cloudflare throws up a 526 and says your SSL certificate is invalid.

Don’t be a fool, wrap your tool
Age verification is difficult and no amount of logins will prevent underage users from gaining access if they are actively seeking to.
Fully aware it’s unaffiliated, just that local settings was bad concept.
I definitely understand where you’re coming from, I was just attempting to debate cost/value.
