I don't think you should worry overly much about it. The ranking was for Markdown support, not total app quality, and as you've said, the current level of Markdown support is a design decision based on available resources. You don't need full Markdown support to be a good app, and full Markdown support doesn't, on its own, make an app good. The ratings post is basically just the same as a benchmark, ranking things according to one specific quality while ignoring all others.
The hell is wrong with these people. That's one of the more disgusting objectifications of women I've read from current times, and it's littered with ridiculous inaccuracies from beginning to end. Just to point out one, we're much more related to chimpanzees and bonobos than gorillas, so if you're going to assume that genetic similarity determines behavior (which is already an unfounded assumption), you should at least refer to them.
I don't understand why the author thinks this is something new. Russia has been doing the same horrific things to Ukraine for two years and Westerners are still constantly finding reasons not to care. That's not to mention Sudan, Tigray, and Xinjiang.
