Black farmers' association calls for Tractor Supply CEO's resignation after company cuts DEI efforts
  • Going to watch the video but my experience has been that the programs do nothing to influence advancement opportunities and negatively impact hiring actions. What it does do is make it nearly impossible to move on from a diversity employee. Just last year my former employer finally had a black woman retire and was able to hire a full time engineer in her place. She was a UNIX administrator for a couple decades, got pissed when the organization started replacing end points with windows and Linux and once NIS was replaced spent the last 20 years of her career coming into work, putting her feet up on the desk and reading a book until she left to go home, nothing for her to do, they didn’t have UNIX anymore and she wasn’t going to touch anything else, not even the Linux systems. I mean good for her, I don’t give a shit about my former employer, she was very friendly and intelligent and I enjoyed stopping by and hanging out with her during breaks sometimes but she would have been gone in a week at most if she wasn’t a diversity employee. That is the most extreme example I have directly experienced but it is an entirely different conversation, bordering on impossible, if a diversity employee needs let go so what ends up happening is hiring a diverse employee is almost like putting your career on the line that they succeed whereas a non diverse employee that is hired and isn’t performing can been given a 30 day PIP, 30 day final written warning, and then part ways.

  • What did your parents refrigerate? Mine refrigerated bread.
  • I wonder if the type matters. I put all my loaves in the freezer from Sam’s and just take one out and put it in the bottom cupboard the night before if I’m low/out and it looks and tastes exactly the same as the never frozen loaf I will use first after I get home from shopping. I love my dedicated upright freezer. Not as efficient as a chest freezer but it’s convenient enough that my kids and I actually use it daily instead of trying to avoid it.

  • Emotional overload
  • It’s starts to hit different once they begin formulating their own independent life. It’s just a big adjustment and takes a mental change to finding comfort while they’re absent.

  • I’m still getting my feet wet with HAOS. Mainly got it for frigate but I’ve been trying to do more and more with it every week and I think I’m way over my head lol. It seems really cool if you know how to make everything work but I’m still trying to figure out so much I end up having to walk away and come back to it later after getting confused. It’s helped a bit to start writing out what I’m trying to do on paper and tinker with things while keeping notes.

  • xkcd #2948: Electric vs Gas
  • No I’m with you and have always kind of wished that’s the direction more EVs would have gone. I have a minivan for all the shit going on with kids and I love it but I have to drive six hundred miles half a dozen times a year so they can visit their mom. A higher range EV that I can refill with gas would be a game changer. Instead I got an electric golf cart that is street legal I use for the majority of my local commuting so I only drive the minivan a few times a week. I was really just being a turd because your first comment said 3 HP and the next one said 5 HP.

  • xkcd #2948: Electric vs Gas
  • Maybe truth is they started talking about doing a car like that and by the time it was ready for production they ended up with a regular ICE car because they nearly doubled the HP of the generator every time the design got reviewed like you are doing now. Before long it will be a tiny 98 HP generator…

  • Anon goes to the gym for the first time
  • My best friend in a small town high school and I were outcasts but because of that we were huge gym rats. We didn’t play any sports but would ditch study hall, shop, and PT and lift in the gym. This was mid nineties and I remember us doing the bodies for life challenge even though we were young and didn’t have a starting body to work from. The most pride I have from those days is we put up a sign above the gym that said “leave your ego at the door”, we would help and stick up for anyone and everyone no matter what, a couple of our classmates parents came in to lift with us while their kids were at practice and thanked us. That meant a lot as a teenager.

  • The ultimate rickroll
  • Damnit, I was hoping to be rickrolled.

He sings so damn clearly, I don’t know why but I’m currently enamored with how every single word he is singing is so pronounced and pleasant sounding, it’s like listening to the song in HD.

  • Not Likeable
  • You’re seriously referencing a cropped video from Fox that removed the skydiver Biden walked over and gave a thumbs up to as wandering off. Stop acting like you give a fuck about the country you are so intentionally trying to undermine with your ignorant bullshit.

  • Le Murca
  • Intelligence questioned by someone that can’t figure out rotating an ice cream tub will get it to match the lid? You’re looking for a flag reference on something that never even mentioned a flag. I don’t need to be intelligent to see how stupid you are.
