FCC proposes ending cellphone carrier locks after 60 days
  • In Canada even if you lease to own a phone it's not carrier locked anymore, you have to pay the remaining balance if you leave, or possibly can return the phone (but that's just throwing your money away)

  • Interesting OSS project: Holesail creates instant P2P tunnels between networks (like a VPN)
  • Why are you even mentioning matrix? We don't want a chat server corpo or not, we want a real functional forum with topics and history and indexed by search engines, not a single chat log that disappears into the void after 24 hours of use.

  • Good = Boring = No Corporate News Story
  • Sure you can think up the tag line line liner title for each item but what about all the details? How will they work the restrictions the requirements the funding. How much of that requires large amounts of work just to be shutdown and tossed by the Republicans

  • Good = Boring = No Corporate News Story
  • It takes immense amounts of time and effort to bring new items like this forwards, so each item you choose to do means time and money that can't be used bringing a different policy forwards.

Based on that why should Biden waste his time developing and bringing forward policies that the Republicans are obviously going to immediately shoot down, it just prevents him from being able to work on things that might actually get passed

  • Rule one of the road : Never trust an idle car.
  • The solution is to separate bike lanes from the road, this is ignore in basically all north american cities and else where too.

That said I think the bike in the video is a motorcycle so that wouldn't have helped them in this case.

  • Battery electric vehicles lose their spark in Europe as hybrids steal the show
  • Nothing in that comment discussed plugin hybrids though.

A non plug-in hybrid will be more efficient than a full gas vehicle because of the efficiency you can gain through minimizing the engine and tuning it for a more limited rpm range.

This ideally carries over to a plug-in hybrid in the same way even if it's never plugged in, if all the gas engine does is charge the battery it can be more efficient than a gas only car due to reduced engine size requirements.

  • xkcd #2948: Electric vs Gas
  • I hear this complaint a lot about charging times, but for 99.99% of people they are never in a single day going to drive beyond their cars range, meaning even a standard level 1 slow charger over night at home can manage their entire car usage.

It's only people doing long distance road trips that have to worry, and that's by far a minimum. Instead of boosting gas cars for that we could be looking at investing in rail so people don't have to make the longer trips in a car anyway.

  • ACAB.
  • Just assume anyone making a post on the internet in English is American, because they have the majority of the publicly discussed issues and post most of the English content.

You'll be less confused and not lots people off by studying a "well aktchually" in where it's not needed.
