  • No, this definitely seems different and new from all the recent articles about it I've seen. This vote passed Wednesday, not in December. It's a response to the protests at universities. And it's a bill, so it can be passed into law. I think you're confusing two different things.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/70-house-democrats-and-21-republicans-voted-against-a-bill-to-crack-down-on-antisemitism-on-college-campuses/ar-AA1o02Rn

This expands the definition of antisemitism to bring critical of Israel at all or comparing Zionism to Nazism, and would codify it into law if it, passes the Senate and is signed by the President. So there is still time to stop this, and it's a big deal, so people should be angry about it.

  • I'm definitely not voting for Trump. I live in a blue state where my vote doesn't matter anyway. I'm just saying, you guys aren't helping as much as you think you are. Look at it from their point of view. They're not thinking rationally, and honestly, I don't expect them to. It's an emotionally charged situation when people you know or people like you are being genocided. The effort would be better spent trying to force Biden to change tactics on supporting Israel before election day.

  • +1

Hopefully we can learn from past movements like Occupy, which were unfocused, and apply the lessons learned to future protests, like this Gaza one. It kind of scared me when they said larger struggle, because it brought me immediately back to Occupy, like you said.

  • That's the one thing, I really want more niche communities. Not sure if we just need more people or community discovery needs to be easier. I'd like to see more with the league of legends community and Meet Your Maker community, and I'm sure other people have niche video games or other small hobby communities they'd like to see take off more.

  • Or one of them collected a fund and went out and bought a bunch of the cheapest ones they could find? The pro-Palestine lobby doesn't exist and have billions of dollars behind it like the pro-Israel one. Your conspiracy is barking up the wrong tree. Even homeless people in LA can afford tents, let alone students joining an expensive university.

  • Or Biden could change course? He's got time and the ramping up of pressure against him will hopefully reach a fever pitch that he'll have no choice but to do so. If not, then he really likes Israel more than he likes democracy, and it's as much his fault as it is the people who refuse to vote for the guy who's killing their family members.

  • It definitely isn't enough to feed the constant content addiction I had with Reddit, but I've found that kind of a good thing lol. I've started reading books and comics on my phone, getting out of bed faster, working on other projects, etc. It's like using a less toxic version to wean off, like using vapes or patches to get off cigarettes.

  • Same. To the point where I can barely stand Reddit right now. There's a couple good subs, but the front page, or every really big sub, is so charged and toxic nowadays. I can barely make it through the comments anymore.

  • That still would've been wrong. Imagine if I came in to your house and decided half of it was mine. The half I like btw. And then slowly start taking more until you're locked in the basement and can't leave until I say so.
