FCC proposes ending cellphone carrier locks after 60 days
  • Boost mobile doesn't even do financing, but they require you be with them for a year before they'll unlock your phone. I refuse to go back to them after buying an LG Stylo, and then when I wanted to switch 6 months later they refused to release the phone. I ended up having to buy a whole new phone when I didn't have the money to do so.

  • AI-Generated George Carlin Drops Comedy Special That Daughter Speaks Out Against: ‘No Machine Will Ever Replace His Genius’
  • For me it's a let the dead lie kind of thing. This kind of stuff just means that once a comedian or celebrity dies, a company can continue to squeeze their likeness to death in a money grab. Sure if they could stop at half assed AI shows just as a "can it really be done" thing, then it's not so terrible. But each time they're going to be doing their damnedest to improve it.

Eventually we will reach a dystopia where 1) just because you're dead doesn't mean it's over and 2) why get new talent and new blood when there's dead blood to keep squeezing. Next up stars will have issues where when they go to sign a contract, they have to make sure their families get portions of profits from AI content for literal decades after their death. Otherwise the big companies get to keep making money off them with no protection for their family.

  • Not every country has unlimited talk and text as a widely as others. I know my husband's family uses what's app because they can always hop on their WiFi or a neighbors and talk to family, but they can't always afford to top up their minutes. The social drawback isn't that they'll look at you funny, it's that they might literally not be able to communicate with you.

Add in that some of those families also play hot potato with phones, swapping who has what phone almost weekly, something that follows the login and not the phone starts to make sense. I know there are better alternatives to what's app and don't defend it, but getting them as a whole to change apps so they can all communicate would mean a lot of work and energy I can say they don't have these days.

  • Let's confuse Americans!
  • We do actually have the bag and jug too! I love getting my milk at Kwik Trip because that's how they sell it. And it just tastes better. If it weren't so damn expensive, I'd force my household to convert to it.

  • You Can't Look at Porn on Any Reddit Third-Party App Now
  • Oh sweet, it still works? I uninstalled it on the 1st because I found muscle memory had me opening it and I didn't want the dev racking up fees on my behalf. Hope he figured it out, I know he really poured time keeping that app going.

  • Reddit's Traffic is Down 3.36% Month-Over-Month, According to SimilarWeb
  • That's only for June though. I'm going to wait for the august report to see the drop include the massive exodus that came July 1st. I know I hopped over here then, and all of the posts for like 3 days were people who left in June, or about the exodus with comment sections full of newcomers.
