When even comedy hits too close to home
  • I like the new season, it's less serious, but still continues the story where it ended. I really like that they keep things kind of real, how it actually could look like in the future.

  • Just watched this episode an hour ago, and that scene really got me. Upload is a surprisingly good series.

Isn't OneDrive/Sharepiont the exact OPPOSITE of a shared drive?
  • May I ask how much additional storage you have for the Tenant, roughly? What is the price increase in percentage for the additional storage?

  • Isn't OneDrive/Sharepiont the exact OPPOSITE of a shared drive?
  • Wow, damn. Around 90k accounts here with a lot of extra storage. I'll need to check that as well then so there's still some time left.

  • Isn't OneDrive/Sharepiont the exact OPPOSITE of a shared drive?
  • Are there any details known already?

  • Guys I'm going to scream
  • There seems to be some misunderstanding here. The text marked in the screenshot is if you move from the beta version back to the public (stable) version.

Getting into the beta for a new app is nearly instant and allows you to install it right away.

  • Microsoft’s big Windows 11 update drops on September 26 with Copilot AI baked in
  • That's already available for insiders and can be enabled, meaning it will soon-ish come to the stable versions of Windows 11.

  • I went to the zoo yesterday. This was my favorite picture that I took from the whole day.
  • Yeah, some phones do that especially when using zoom. You may find more information here.

  • I went to the zoo yesterday. This was my favorite picture that I took from the whole day.
  • I believe this is a picture which got improved with AI, e.g. higher resolution / sharpening / deblur.

  • Can they even track pirated installs ?
  • That was my thought as well, since they count installs and not use count of bought copies directly from a platform.

What if people create cracks for legit purchased games, e.g. on Steam, which only removes the Unity tracking part?

A simple Firewall rule which "fixes it" for all games installed on a machine might work as well?

I believe it might be similar or the same procedure for every game using Unity. We might see this popping up at some point.

Current spam/attacks of explicit, illegal images (CSAM) posted from various Lemmy instances - How does Reddthat react to it?
  • Thank you for the insights and your opinion / decisions on this topic. Very much appreciated, especially by being so detailed.

I particularly looked for an instance which is open and doesn't start restricting users (e.g. disabling image uploads) if anything happens, instead trust all moderators which invest a huge lot of time to keep communities safe and a nice place, even if not on this instance and only act when actually needed.

I agree with most you wrote about, sadly though such reports usually end up with no outcome since those (truly awful) trolls use TOR, VPN or any other available tool to hide their identity / IP from the public. Being an admin and moderator of several communities myself, I know this struggle. Luckily, on Lemmy there's way more freedom / possibilities than on other managed platforms like Reddit or Discord.

Do you believe it might make sense to consider disabling local image caching (e.g. thumbnails coming from other instances) on your server or use any of the available tools to scan images for possible CSAM content and delete such cached content if this gets worse?

Out of interest, slightly related to this topic, how will you handle other instances possibly blocking Reddthat if ever any spambot attacks happen? Is there a strategy behind this, or will you simply act case by case if such ever happens?

    My family comes first.

Absolutely, family and friends come first, especially for projects like this which isn't your job / main income (if any ever from this project).

  • Hey Reddthat community, how are you doing this week? What is happening in your life?
  • Oh ouch, that doesn't sound only expensive, but also very painful. Did you let someone else do the fixing for you? Were you able to deal with the termites? Much strength, friend!

  • Gameplay leak, first half an hour. Intro spoilers
  • Already down as well. Anyone downloaded a backup?

  • "Quick Subscribe" missing in most Lemmy apps

Many of us came from Reddit and are still exploring Lemmy by browsing “Everything” or “All”.

Right now, when I want to subscribe to a community from “All” in all apps I've tried, it takes me 3+ clicks / taps to subscribe, by opening the community first and going through some menus. In some apps it's even more hidden, especially for new joiners not knowing Lemmy and the new apps UI this can be confusing.

I would suggest all app developers to add an option, which adds a button on each post, similar like the save or upvote button, to directly see if we’re already subscribed, and clicking it would subscribe / unsubscribe us.

That would help the adoption of Lemmy and makes it easier to subscribe to all the communities which seem interesting, without going through menus or doing many clicks / taps each time.

    [Feature Request] Quick Subscribe

Many of us came from Reddit and are still exploring Lemmy by browsing "Everything" or "All".

Right now, when I want to subscribe to a community from "Everything" it takes me 4 clicks / taps. If I didn't enable opening a community directly, it takes me even 6 clicks / taps.

Can we have a button on each post, similar like the save or upvote button, to directly see if we're already subscribed, and clicking it would subscribe / unsubscribe us? With the possibility to disable the additional question if I really want to subscribe?

That would help the adoption of Lemmy / Sync and makes it easier to subscribe to all the communities which seem interesting.
