I'm not actually. And not all my comments have downvotes.
I'm centre right, while it seems the vast majority of users on Lemmy are extreme left and you all get antagonised very easily. tbh I think I'm going to abandon Lemmy which I'm sure you'll be pleased to hear.
However, I do not believe for one second that giving children puberty blockers or hormones is safe or right. You're all probably in your teens or very early 20s so don't get it as you don't even know yourselves yet. I know its hard to accept as you're intelligent and educated and have very real feelings and life experiences but until you're well into your 20s you havent really found yourself - as much as you think you have up to that point. Tis why often young marriages fail, people regret tattoos, general cringe looking back at your younger self. I am not saying anything controversial here.
People claiming that after you stop prescribing blockers that one can magically restart puberty and can continue as normal without any ill effects are spouting pure lies or are indoctrinated in to this peddled fantasy.
The changes are lasting and damaging. There are plenty of ex trans who have publicly spoken out about this - but maybe they've all been cancelled and bullied into submission by now.
Stasis isn't real - it's Sci fi.
Give children counselling to overcome their dysmorphia, and all the non body altering support they need. If they are certain by the time they're into adulthood they need to transition then let them at it.
Children are not ready to make such a massive decision that has huge implications on them for the rest of their life. Lets be honest, puberty blockers are just the start too - it was that, then hormones and surgery, and lots of people have been damaged, for life.
Anyway, bring on the downvotes. I really don't care. Just hope I might get through to at least someone reading this and make them stop and think.
Hey, you're probably just gay, and that's cool. Don't fuck up your genitals so you can never even have an orgasm, or worse end up spending your whole life on drugs or seeing doctors.
Peace. :)
Some good news for once.
Mentions skidding on ice in first paragraph. No amount of training can reverse the laws of friction.
Thing is, I agree and think normal consumer passenger cars are getting far too heavy. Like people.
The article is focused on passenger cars becoming heavier, no?
What a load of shit. Pretty sure roads are already used by many vehicles of Greater mass than 7000lbs. Trucks. Buses. Coaches.
It would have just been squandered elsewhere.
As someone who until reading this was almost totally ignorant about the status quo in Mexico City (other than secondary school lessons in 90s on the 1985 earth quake) I am aghast at their situation. Those poor people.
But can they actually?
Part of me wants to despair at this. I feel like our government is just totally inept and everything is just bad news. There was even a report in the Times this week that Russian hakers are going to take the NHS down - and given the Horizon scandal where its proven we've repeatedly gone with the lowest bidder, it wouldn't surprise me.
However, I like to think there is someone in charge of all this who properly has their shit together and is smirking at this thinking 'come and have a go if you think your hard enough'
I once did some training at a highly sensitive UK site (mandatory for the clearance I needed) and during the course we were told in no uncertain terms China was relentless in their spying and attack attempts. This was around 15 years ago.
Agreed. I don't want lemmy to turn into reddit, but we could do with more users for sure. I am guilty of not posting / commenting much.
I'd like to see some definitions or units put next to 'ultra high'.
It was supposed to be date night tonight (me cooking) but the missus is feeling poorly so it's postponed. There is a gathering at the pub tonight so I might sneak along, but we have an early start tomorrow as we're visiting my grandmother in North Wales....so might be better off flaking out on the sofa.
I'm still cooking. Fresh linguini, mussles, king prawns and squid to be washed down with a chilled Pouilly-Fumé. 👌
Yeah was my first thought too! Was worried it was going to have its last bark..
Please could you point me in the right direction on how to do this / an app I would need. Thanks.
Because how many trans people are there compared with straight people?
And society does, very much judge outsider demographics on the worst actions of individuals.
I just want the ability to turn off WhatsApp.
Like on a Sunday morning let me kill all notifications and calls.
No one gets hyperbole anymore.
Clearly she does not want to spend two years in jail. She is making a stand about the importance of sex being recognised and standing up for girls and women and the preservation of safe spaces for them.
Not all trans are like this, but: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/10/18/paedophile-andrew-miller-jailed-edinburgh-sentencing/
I use cash pretty much everyday. I purposely do so over contactless. Cash is freedom. Cash is anonymous. Cash is king. Don't give up on it or you'll be sorry when it's gone.
On topic, I love the new coins.
Bridgend. My condolences. ;-)
Sounds very similar to the crap we have in the Vale.
We've recently had a change where black bin bags are only being collected every three weeks! And at the same time they moved garden waste to a paid service!
Really feeling great value for money with my £270/month council tax.
